The investigation of the frequency of the alpha-1-antitrypsin phenotype in patients with liver cirrhosis.

Objectives: Alpha-1-antitrypsin (AAT) has different phenotypes. Evidence suggests that the abundance of each of these phenotypes may be associated with a disease. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the frequency of AAT phenotypes in patients with liver cirrhosis as well as in healthy individuals.

Cytologic features of undifferentiated and dedifferentiated carcinomas of the endometrium.

Background: Undifferentiated carcinoma (UC) is a rare, aggressive subtype of endometrial carcinoma. Dedifferentiated carcinomas (DCs) are UCs associated with a component of well differentiated endometrioid carcinoma. The authors sought to describe the morphologic features of UCs and DCs in cytologic specimens.

Type 1 Choledochal Cyst with Ectopic Pancreas and Septate Gallbladder.

Choledochal cysts (CCs), congenital cystic dilatation of the biliary tract, are more commonly identified in females and have been associated with a myriad of other developmental abnormalities. We present a male infant who was diagnosed with type I CC prenatally. He subsequently underwent cyst and gallbladder resection with hepaticoduodenostomy reconstruction at the age of 6 months.
