Background: The Montreal classification has been widely used in Crohn's disease since 2005 to categorize patients by the age of onset (A), disease location (L), behavior (B), and upper gastrointestinal tract and perianal involvement. With evolving management paradigms in Crohn's disease, we aimed to assess the performance of gastroenterologists in applying the Montreal classification.
Methods: An online survey was conducted among participants at an international educational conference on inflammatory bowel diseases.

Background & Aims: Interventional clinical trials in acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC) are characterized by substantial heterogeneity due to a lack of consensus in several key areas of trial design-this impedes clinical research efforts to identify novel therapies. The objective of this initiative was to achieve the first consensus and provide clear position statements on ASUC trial design.
Methods: A modified Delphi consensus approach was employed with a panel of 20 clinicians with international representation and expertise in ASUC trial design and delivery.
Background: It is unknown which maintenance therapy is the most effective option for patients admitted for an acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC) episode responding to intravenous steroids.
Methods: We conducted a multicentre, parallel-group, open-label randomised controlled trial among 23 French centres in thiopurine and biologics-naïve adults admitted for ASUC responding to intravenous steroids. Eligible patients were randomly assigned to receive infliximab (IFX) and azathioprine (AZA) with a 7-day steroid tapering scheme (IFX+AZA arm) or AZA and conventional standardised steroid tapering regimen (AZA arm).
Background & Aims: Breast cancer is the most common malignancy observed in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). The aim of our study was to evaluate incident cancer rate (recurrence or new-onset cancer) in a cohort of patients with IBD with a history of breast cancer according to the subsequent IBD treatment provided.
Methods: A multicenter retrospective study included consecutive patients with IBD with prior breast cancer.
Background And Aims: Achieving deep remission, encompassing clinical, endoscopic, and biological remission, is the goal in managing Crohn's disease (CD). The role of histological remission remains unclear. This study aimed to examine the impact of histological inflammation on clinical relapse risk in CD and explore the relationship between histology, endoscopic scores, and biomarkers.

Here, we describe the results for adults with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Methods: Eligible patients with IBD were recruited and received intravenous CT-P13 induction and/or maintenance therapy; patients were either naive to IFX (IFX-naive) or previously treated with IFX originator or another IFX biosimilar (IFX-switched).
Background: Anti-TNF are usually maintained during pregnancy in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) but safety is still a concern for them.
Aims: To provide data on management of anti-TNF agents during pregnancy, safety of live vaccines (BCG-MMR-rotavirus) and breastfeeding in newborns and dedicated information delivered to IBD women.
Methods: We performed an observational study in 25 centers from 2016 to 2018.
Background: In patients with multifocal intestinal Crohn disease requiring surgery for complication or uncontrolled disease, resection of all the lesions may lead to diarrhea and malnutrition.
Methods: This is a single-center retrospective review of all patients undergoing targeted surgery for multifocal Crohn disease with at least one residual Crohn disease location left behind. The primary endpoint was the rate of insufficient control of residual Crohn disease lesions requiring redo-surgery targeting these lesions.
Background: Both vedolizumab and ustekinumab can be considered for the treatment of ulcerative colitis [UC], but head-to-head trials are lacking.
Aim: We aimed to compare the effectiveness of vedolizumab and ustekinumab after anti-tumour necrosis factor [anti-TNF] failure in UC patients.
Patients And Methods: In this multicentre study, we included consecutive adult patients with UC, with partial Mayo score >2 and prior anti-TNF exposure, treated with vedolizumab or ustekinumab between January 2019 and August 2022.
Background: The systematic use of susceptibility testing and tailored first-line treatment for Helicobacter pylori eradication has yet to be established.
Aim: To compare 14-day tailored PCR-guided triple therapy to 14-day non-Bismuth concomitant quadruple therapy for first-line Helicobacter pylori eradication.
Patients And Methods: We performed a multicenter, parallel-group, randomized noninferiority controlled trial.
Background: The advent of new therapeutic agents and the improvement of supporting care might change the management of acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC) and avoid colectomy.
Aims: To evaluate the colectomy-free survival and safety of a third-line treatment in patients with ASUC refractory to intravenous steroids and who failed either infliximab or ciclosporin.
Methods: Multicentre retrospective cohort study of patients with ASUC refractory to intravenous steroids who had failed infliximab or ciclosporin and received a third-line treatment during the same hospitalisation.
Introduction: Patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) receiving immunosuppressive drugs are at substantial risk of colectomy. We aimed to assess the risk of postoperative complications of tofacitinib exposure before colectomy in comparison with biologics.
Methods: A multicenter, retrospective, observational study was conducted in patients with UC who underwent total colectomy for medically refractory disease, exposed to tofacitinib or a biologic before surgery.
Background: Data on infliximab efficacy in bio-exposed patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) are limited.
Aims: To evaluate infliximab effectiveness and its predictors in UC patients with prior exposure to subcutaneous (SC) anti-TNF agent.
Methods: In this multicenter retrospective study (8 centers), we included all consecutive UC patients with prior exposure to subcutaneous anti-TNF, starting infliximab for symptomatic UC, excluding acute severe colitis.
Background: Nutri-score is now widely available in food packages in Europe.
Aim: To study the overall nutritional quality of the diet in relation to risks of Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) cohort METHODS: We collected dietary data at baseline from validated food frequency questionnaires. We used a dietary index based on the UK Food Standards Agency modified nutrient profiling system (FSAm-NPS-DI) underlying the Nutri-Score label, to measure the nutritional quality of the diet.

Background: Gastric Mucosa Associated Lymphoid Tissue lymphoma (GML) development is triggered by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. Little is known about the impact of H.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Inflammatory bowel disease [IBD] is associated with an increased risk of developing lymphoma. Although recent data have clarified the epidemiology of lymphoma in IBD patients, the clinical and pathological characteristics of lymphoma in IBD remain poorly known.
Methods: Patients with IBD and lymphoma were retrospectively identified in the framework of a national collaborative study including the Groupe d'Étude Thérapeutique des Affections Inflammatoires du Tube Digestif [GETAID] and the Lymphoma Study Association [LYSA].
Background: Although ulcerative proctitis [UP] can dramatically impair quality of life, treatment efficacy has been poorly investigated in UP as it was historically excluded from phase 2/3 randomised controlled trials in ulcerative colitis. Our aim was to assess the effectiveness and safety of tofacitinib for the treatment of UP.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective, multicentre study in 17 GETAID centres, including consecutive patients with UP treated with tofacitinib.

Background: The risk of relapse after anti-tumour necrosis factor [TNF] therapy discontinuation in Crohn's disease patients with perianal fistulas [pCD] is unclear. We aimed to assess this risk.
Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted to identify cohort studies on the incidence of relapse following anti-TNF discontinuation in pCD patients.
Background: In recent years, an increasing prevalence of obesity in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has been observed. However, only a few studies have focused on the impact of overweight and obesity on IBD-related disability.
Aims: To identify the factors associated with obese and overweight patients with IBD, including IBD-related disability.
