Antimicrobial activity of some Salvia species essential oils from Iran.

- A study analyzed the essential oils from three types of sage plants (Salvia multicaulis, S. sclarea, and S. verticillata) collected at peak bloom using hydrodistillation and advanced gas chromatography techniques.
- The essential oils were tested for antimicrobial effects against various bacteria and fungi, showing moderate to high antibacterial activity against most bacteria except for Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which was resistant.
- Antifungal activity was minimal, with only the oil from S. multicaulis exhibiting slight effectiveness against two yeast strains (Candida albicans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae).
