Article Synopsis
  • During the COVID-19 outbreak in Lazio, there was a significant increase in emergency medical service (EMS) calls, prompting a study to explore the link between these calls and the progression of the epidemic.
  • The researchers analyzed EMS call data and COVID-19 case trends to determine correlations, using regression models to predict changes in the epidemic based on the pattern of EMS calls over time.
  • The study found that variations in EMS calls closely correlate with the rate of ICU admissions, particularly with a notable predictive value at 7 days, suggesting that tracking EMS calls can help public health predict upcoming trends in COVID-19 cases.
