This study aimed to analyze the fatty acid content in human milk and to find its relationship with the growth velocity of preterm infants. Mature milk samples from 15 mothers of preterm infants were collected from three different hospitals, followed by lipid extraction, fatty acid methylation, and finally gas chromatography analysis to determine the fatty acids composition. The average total lipid content was 3.

Aim: In this study we aimed to find out the heart rate variability measuring using electrical cardiometry is not reliable as a predictor for hypotension following spinal anesthesia in preeclamptic parturients undergoing elective cesarean section.

Methods: Electrical Cardiometry system was used to measure Heart rate variability (HRV) at five different time points before fluid loading (T0, baseline), after fluid loading (T1), 5 min after spinal anaesthesia (T2), 15 min after spinal anaesthesia (T3) and 30 min after spinal anaesthesia (T4). Traditional HRV measurement was determined using time-domain analysis.

Background: Goal-directed fluid therapy (GDFT) improved patient outcomes in various surgical procedures; however, its role during mass brain resection was not well investigated.

Aim: In this study, we evaluated a simple protocol based on intermittent evaluation of pulse pressure variation for guiding fluid therapy during brain tumour resection.

Methods: Sixty-one adult patients scheduled for supratentorial brain mass excision were randomized into either GDFT group (received intraoperative fluids guided by pulse pressure variation) and control group (received standard care).

Acute pulmonary oedema is a serious complication of preeclampsia. Early detection of pulmonary edema in preeclampsia would improve fluid management and would also allow earlier detection of severe cases. The aim of this work is to evaluate the ability of thoracic fluid content measured by electrical cardiometry for early detection of pulmonary edema in parturients with preeclampsia.
