Background: This study aims to evaluate the effect of surface treatment and resin cement on the shear bond strength (SBS) and mode of failure of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) to lithium disilicate ceramic (LDC). This is suggested to study alternative veneering of PEEK frameworks with a ceramic material.

Methods: eighty discs were prepared from PEEK blank and from lithium disilicate ceramic.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Amina Mohamed Hamdy"

  • - Amina Mohamed Hamdy's recent research focuses on enhancing the bond strength between polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and lithium disilicate ceramic, exploring the effects of different surface treatments and resin cement types.
  • - The study, titled "Effect of surface treatment and resin cement type on the bond strength of polyetheretherketone to lithium disilicate ceramic," employs a methodology involving eighty prepared discs of PEEK and lithium disilicate ceramic to assess shear bond strength and failure modes.
  • - The findings suggest potential for using PEEK frameworks veneered with ceramic materials in dental applications, indicating that appropriate surface treatments and resin cements can significantly impact bond strength and durability.
