Research Problem: ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI+) is an absolute emergency. The young age of patients and the difficulty of access to care remain the main characteristics of STEMI+ management in Tunisia. In the governorate of Béja, located in the Northwestern region of Tunisia, given the lack of a cardiology interventional room in the hospital and in the private establishments of the region and the distance from the specialized centers of at least 127 km, the patient is beyond 90 min of the transfer.

Background: the shock index (SI) defined by the ratio of systolic blood pressure to heart rate was demonstrated as a simple tool in the triage and orientation of severe trauma patients to trauma centers.

Aim: To assess the prognostic value of the SI ≥ 1 in terms of mortality in severe trauma patients admitted to the emergency room.

Methods: We performed a prospective, observational and descriptive study with the inclusion of severe trauma patients over the age of 18 years admitted to the Vital Emergency Room over a 21-month period.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Amina Jebali"

  • - Amina Jebali's recent research focuses on the evaluation of emergency care practices in Tunisia, particularly concerning the management of acute medical conditions such as ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) and severe trauma cases.
  • - Her study on STEMI management highlights significant challenges due to geographical barriers and lack of specialized facilities in the Béja governorate, which affects timely treatment and patient outcomes.
  • - Jebali's work also includes assessing the prognostic value of various scoring tools and shock index in predicting mortality among severe trauma patients, emphasizing the need for effective triage and management strategies in emergency settings.
