The surface roughness and wettability of wood are critical aspects to consider when producing laminated wood products with adhesive applications. This study aims to investigate the surface roughness and dynamic wettability of Jabon wood in the presence of melamine formaldehyde (MF)-based adhesives. Commercial MF adhesives (MF-0) and modified MF adhesives (MF-1) were applied to Jabon wood, which includes tangential (T), radial (R), and semi-radial (T/R) surfaces.

The Impact of Inoculation of Two Strains of Rhizobacteria on Radionuclide Transfer in Sesbania Grandiflora.

Transfer factors of some naturally-occurring and artificial radionuclides from an agricultural soil to rhizobacteria-treated Sesbania grandiflora, a small leguminous tree, were studied. Two plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) strains (SCR17 and PCE2) were used to carry out an agricultural experiment in pots in semi-arid region (Syria). The results showed the bacterial strain (SCR17) increased the transfer and accumulation of U and K in Sesbania grandiflora, while both bacterial strains showed no effect on the accumulation of Th, Ra, Po and Pb in the treated plants.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly contagious respiratory disease that leads to variable degrees of illness, and which may be fatal. We evaluated the diagnostic performance of each chest computed tomography (CT) reporting category recommended by the Expert Consensus of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in comparison with that of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). We aimed to add an analysis of this form of reporting in the Middle East, as few studies have been performed there.

A compact, conformal, all-textile wearable antenna is proposed in this paper for the 2.45 GHz ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band. The integrated design consists of a monopole radiator backed by a 2 × 1 Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) array, resulting in a small form factor suitable for wristband applications.

Different protocols in treatment of placental retention in dairy cows and their influences on reproductive performance.

The study aimed to evaluate the effect of α-chymotrypsin on placental separation as a treatment protocol for retained placenta (RP) in dairy cows and its effect on reproductive performance after placental shedding. The study was conducted on 64 crossbred cows that suffered from retained placenta. Cows were divided into four equal groups: group I (n = 16) treated with prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α); group II (n = 16) treated with PGF2α in combination with α-chemotrypsin; group III (n = 16) treated with α-chemotrypsin only and group IV (n = 16) treated by manual removal of the RP.

Effect of Glue Spread on Bonding Strength, Delamination, and Wood Failure of Jabon Wood-Based Cross-Laminated Timber Using Cold-Setting Melamine-Based Adhesive.

Cross-laminated timber (CLT) has become a popular engineered wood product due to its innovative properties and rapid development, which involves the use of various wood species and adhesives. This study aimed to assess the effect of glue application on the bonding strength, delamination, and wood failure of CLT made from jabon wood and bonded with a cold-setting melamine-based adhesive at three different rates: 250, 280, and 300 g/m. The adhesive was composed of melamine-formaldehyde (MF) by adding 5% citric acid, 3% polymeric 4,4-methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (pMDI), and 10% wheat flour.

Treatment of Inactive Ovaries of Holstein Dairy Cows by Epidural Injection of GnRH Analogue (Receptal) and Its Impact on the Reproductive Hormones, Oxidant/Antioxidant Profile and Micro and Macro-Elements Profile.

This study was designed to evaluate a new therapeutic approach for inactive ovaries based on the epidural administration of a GnRH agonist (Receptal) and an investigation of the impact of this treatment on the hormonal, oxidant/antioxidant and micro- and macro-element profiles. Sixty cows with postpartum anestrus were divided into two groups: the first group (group R, n = 30) was administered an epidural injection of Receptal, while the second group (group C, n = 30) received saline and was considered the control group. Evaluation of hormonal (progesterone, FSH, LH, testosterone, and cortisol), oxidant/antioxidant (MDA, SOD, GPx and TAC) as well as micro- and macroelement (calcium, phosphorus, manganese and magnesium) profiles was done in serum.

Treatment of produced water using Mn oxide nanoparticales loaded on walnut shells.

Sorption of Ra from produced water with oil production on manganese oxide nanoparticles loaded on walnut shell media was investigated using batch-type technique. The results showed that Ra is effectively adsorbed onto the adsorbent with equilibrium time of approximately 30 min. Removal efficiency of Ra from produced water depends mainly on the adsorbent dose and concentration of associated ions; removal efficiency decreased when their concentrations increase.

The current study aims to evaluate the possible neuroprotective impact of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and an alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) mixture against brain damage in irradiated rats. AuNPs were synthesized and characterized using different techniques. Then, a preliminary investigation was carried out to determine the neuroprotective dose of AuNPs, where three single doses (500, 1000, and 1500 µg/kg) were orally administrated to male Wistar rats, one hour before being exposed to a single dose of 7Gy gamma radiation.
