Article Synopsis
  • COVID-19 can cause severe respiratory issues and may also affect liver function, but the link between the severity of the disease and liver abnormalities isn't fully understood.
  • A study analyzed 339 adult COVID-19 patients, finding that those with severe cases had significantly higher levels of liver enzymes and acute liver injury compared to non-severe cases, and lower albumin levels.
  • The research suggested that factors like HIV infection, elevated hemoglobin, and low albumin might increase the risk of liver issues in severe COVID-19 patients.
