Challenges in Palliative Care Provision in Ethiopia: An Exploratory Qualitative Study.

Background: The prevalence of chronic illnesses is increasing at an alarming rate in Ethiopia. However, the existing palliative care service is not adequate to address the palliative care need of the patients and their families. This demands the need to explore, among other things, the challenges in palliative care provision.

Regionalisation or marginalisation? The case of the Oromo living in Amhara region of Ethiopia.

Since Ethiopia adopted a multinational federation in 1991, Amhara and Oromiya have evolved into nationalist regional states that serve the political interests of the ethnic Amhara and Oromo, respectively. Drawing borders does not conform to ethno-territoriality, leaving some outside their home regions. In this article, we shed light on the marginalisation currently faced by the Oromo people living in areas stretching on the regional Amhara side of the border with the Oromiya region.

Factors Predicting Responses to HIV/AIDS Prevention Messages among Wollega University Students, Oromia, Ethiopia: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Background: Since the first HIV/AIDS cases were reported in 1981, HIV has become one of the world's most serious health and development challenges. Messages should be persuasive and appealing in order to bring the desired effect among the target group. Background: Currently, provider-initiated human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) testing (PIHT) in health facilities is one of the strategies to advance HIV testing and related services. However, many HIV infected clients are missing the opportunities. This study intends to identify predictors of refusal of PIHT among clients visiting adult outpatient departments (OPDs) in Jimma town.
