As the population ages, promoting healthy aging through targeted interventions becomes increasingly crucial. Growing evidence suggests that dietary interventions can significantly impact this process by modulating fundamental molecular pathways. This review focuses on the potential of targeted dietary strategies in promoting healthy aging and the mechanisms by which specific nutrients and dietary patterns influence key pathways involved in cellular repair, inflammation, and metabolic regulation.

The Reduction of After-Hours and Weekend Effects in Upper Gastro-intestinal Bleeding Mortality During the COVID-19 Pandemic Compared to the Pre-Pandemic Period.

Background: In upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB), admissions after normal working hours and during weekends may be associated with increased mortality.

Aim: To assess the evolution of the after-hours and weekend effects during the COVID-19 pandemic as a result of progressive improved management despite management challenges during the pandemic.

Methods: We performed an observational study of patients admitted for UGIB at a tertiary academic center between March 2020 and December 2021, compared to the corresponding timeframe before the pandemic.

Multimodality Cardiac Imaging in COVID-19 Infection.

COVID-19 infection often produces cardiovascular complications, which can range from mild to severe and influence the overall prognosis. Imaging is the cornerstone for diagnosing initial COVID-19 cardiovascular involvement as well as treatment guidance. In this review, we present the current state of the literature on this subject while also emphasizing possible algorithms for indicating and executing these investigations.

The role of non-invasive scores in determining the liver fibrosis in NAFLD and psoriatic patients.

According to recent data, psoriatic patients have an increased prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and metabolic syndrome, compared with the general population. In some published studies, the severity and presence of psoriasis disease were correlated with the severity of NAFLD. In the current study, we aimed to compare the sensibility and specificity of the non-invasive scores and liver biopsy in determining fibrosis in patients with NAFLD and moderate to severe psoriasis.

The association between chronic pancreatitis and the iNOS-2087A>G polymorphism.

Introduction: Chronic pancreatitis is morphologically characterized by ductal dysplasia, breeding grounds for the proliferation of the ductal cells, the degenerative changes in pancreatic acinar cells and fibrosis, and it is defined on the basis of the clinical, morphological and functional criteria.

Aim: The aim of our study is to examine the existence of a possible correlation between the iNOS-2087A>G polymorphism and chronic pancreatitis by means of the genetic analysis.

Material And Method: We have conducted the study at the Gastroenterology Clinic and the Research Center of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Craiova, between March 2015 - September 2016.

Purpose: Colorectal carcinoma is an important cause of mortality worldwide. The fact that tumor growth is dependent on angiogenesis has supported researches for new prognostic parameters and the development of novel therapeutic strategies. Accordingly, we sought to evaluate angiogenesis quantitatively by assessing microvessel density in colorectal cancer.

The composite lymphoma: chronic lymphocytic leukemia--classic Hodgkin's lymphoma.

The composite lymphoma (CL) is defined by the presence in the same tissue or organ of two distinct histological aspects of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), or NHL and Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL). The definition of the CL has evolved, requesting the identification of the immunophenotypic pattern and clonal distinct aspects for the two-lymphoproliferative lesions. We present a case of a 73-year-old farmer who presented with B-symptoms and multiple adenomegaly.

The endoscopic and morphological forms of early gastric cancer.

The early gastric cancer is an endoscopic notion in which gastric cancer is strictly placed to mucosis and submucosis without extensive manifestations. It is the form with favorable prognosis and better survival at 5 and 10 years. Our study tries to systematize the debut forms of early gastric cancer and their association with the lesions with malignisation risk.
