Prefrontal cortex (PFC) inputs to the hippocampus are supposed to be critical in memory processes. Astrocytes are involved in several brain functions, such as homeostasis, neurotransmission, synaptogenesis. However, their role in PFC-mediated modulation of memory has yet to be studied.
