Short-term prognosis of potential celiac disease in Indian patients.

Background: Progression of potential celiac disease (PCD) to overt celiac disease (CD) has been described in some studies from the Western Hemisphere. There are no Asian data on this aspect of CD.

Objective: We aimed to study the short-term histological course of PCD in Indian patients.

Comparative yield of fine needle aspiration cytology, ampullary biopsy, and needle knife assisted biopsy in the diagnosis of nonulcerated periampullary tumors.

Aim: Periampullary tumors (PAT) are defined as tumors arising within 2 cm of the major duodenal papilla. Studies on yield of preoperative biopsy for nonulcerated PAT are scarce. Needle knife papillotomy-assisted biopsy (NKAB) may sample the deeper tissues and thereby increase the histologic yield.

Gastric Varices in Cirrhosis versus Extrahepatic Portal Venous Obstruction and Response to Endoscopic N-Butyl-2-cyanoacrylate Injection.

Background: Gastric varices are found in patients with portal hypertension. Incidence of bleeding from gastric varices is relatively low, but tends to be more severe, and is associated with higher mortality than esophageal variceal bleeding.

Aims And Objectives: To compare the prevalence and types of gastric varices in cirrhosis versus extrahepatic portal venous obstruction (EHPVO) and the results of endoscopic N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBC, glue) injection.

Endoscopic diagnosis, management and outcome of gastroduodenal tuberculosis.

Current guidelines for gastroduodenal tuberculosis suggest that surgery in conjunction with anti-tubercular therapy (ATT) is the primary therapy. We determined the efficacy of endoscopic balloon dilatation along with ATT as the primary treatment for this condition. Patients with gastric outlet obstruction at endoscopy seen over a two-year period underwent multiple biopsies from the involved area.
