Smell and taste sensations have been linked to positive outcomes in the feeding of premature infants, though the impact on the time required to transition to oral feeding remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the beneficial effects of smell and taste interventions on clinical outcomes in preterm infants. We conducted a search in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials from inception through September 2024 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) examining the effects of smell and taste on clinical outcomes in preterm infants with a gestational age of less than 34 weeks.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates the effectiveness of macroscopic on-site evaluation (MOSE) during endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration/biopsy (EUS-FNA/FNB) in diagnosing solid lesions, particularly focusing on histological core sample adequacy.
  • Conducted across 16 medical centers in Egypt, Iraq, and Morocco, the study involved over 1000 patients and revealed that a significant majority of biopsied samples were adequate for histological evaluation, demonstrating a high diagnostic yield.
  • Results indicated that FNB needles performed best in terms of sensitivity and sample quality, highlighting the potential of MOSE as a valuable alternative to traditional rapid on-site evaluation methods.

The first search for soft unclustered energy patterns (SUEPs) is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13  TeV, collected in 2016-2018 by the CMS detector at the LHC. Such SUEPs are predicted by hidden valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics.

Doxorubicin is limited in its therapeutic utility due to its life-threatening cardiovascular side effects. Here, we present an integrated drug discovery pipeline combining human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cardiomyocytes (iCMs), CRISPR interference and activation (CRISPRi/a) bidirectional pooled screens, and a small-molecule screening to identify therapeutic targets mitigating doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity (DIC) without compromising its oncological effects. The screens revealed several previously unreported candidate genes contributing to DIC, including carbonic anhydrase 12 (CA12).

Objective: In spite of great advance in the management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the prognostic factors are still obviously not understood. The role of tumor budding (TB) and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in HCC as pathological parameters affecting prognosis stands principally unknown.

Methods: Seventy-four surgical resection pathology specimens of HCC patients were used.

Federated unlearning (FUL) is a promising solution for removing negative influences from the global model. However, ensuring the reliability of local models in FL systems remains challenging. Existing FUL studies mainly focus on eliminating bad data influences and neglecting scenarios where other factors, such as adversarial attacks and communication constraints, also contribute to negative influences that require mitigation.

Energy correlators that describe energy-weighted distances between two or three particles in a hadronic jet are measured using an event sample of sqrt[s]=13  TeV proton-proton collisions collected by the CMS experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.3  fb^{-1}. The measured distributions are consistent with the trends in the simulation that reveal two key features of the strong interaction: confinement and asymptotic freedom.

Background: Gossypiboma or textiloma is the unintentional retention of textile material in a patient's body, often occurring during abdominal surgery and involving surgical sponges. The body may respond to this foreign body with an exudative inflammatory reaction or an aseptic fibrotic reaction, encapsulating the cotton material and forming a mass. This rare but dramatic event can lead to life-threatening complications, and due to legal and ethical concerns, few publications exist.

Precise monitoring of nitrite from real samples has gained significant attention due to its detrimental impact on human health. Herein, we have fabricated poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) functionalized carbon matrix suspended Cu nanoparticles (PEDOT-C@Cu-NPs) through a facile green synthesis approach. Additionally, we have used machine learning (ML) to optimize experimental parameters such as pH, drying time, and concentrations to predict current of the designed electrochemical sensor.
