Introduction: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common urological disease that is strongly associated with the aging process and can lead to lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). LUTS due to BPH can significantly affect the quality of life of many patients. Among the treatments available for BPH to improve symptoms and functional outcomes, drug therapy and surgical therapy are the options of choice.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the surgical and cancer-related results of salvage radical prostatectomy (sRP) after treatment failure in patients who initially received primary therapy.
  • Researchers analyzed data from patients who underwent either primary or salvage surgery, comparing outcomes like recurrence-free survival, surgical complications, and recovery times.
  • Findings indicated that sRP performed by experienced surgeons yielded similar outcomes in terms of cancer control and recovery compared to primary radical prostatectomy, though the study's retrospective design was a notable limitation.

Background: Measuring psychological constructs in children presents unique challenges, as careful consideration of children's cognitive and socioemotional development is needed. The Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Child Form (TEIQue-CF) was developed within the theoretical underpinnings of trait Emotional Intelligence theory and is predicated on primary aged children. This review aims to systematize the scientific literature on the TEIQue-CF, its corresponding short form, the TEIQue-CSF and the translated versions of these tools to identify the key outcomes predicted by these forms in children aged 8-13 years.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to establish an effective surgical approach for salvage lymph node dissection (SLND) in prostate cancer patients with lymph node recurrence, focusing on the risk of overlooking contralateral nodal involvement.* -
  • Researchers analyzed data from 60 patients who underwent PSMA-radioguided SLND, comparing pre-surgery PSMA-PET images to final pathology results, revealing that 23% had bilateral lymph node positivity despite initially unilateral findings.* -
  • The findings suggest that while unilateral SLND may be adequate for some patients, there is a significant risk of missing bilateral disease, indicating a need for larger studies to validate these results.*

Affective Dependence (AD) is a problematic model of the love relationship that is becoming increasingly prevalent and evident in the context of couple relationships. Similarly, the phenomenon is being observed with growing frequency in daily clinical practice, making it increasingly necessary to identify treatment guidelines that can help clinicians in dealing with AD, while waiting for the literature to reach a consensus on its definition and nosographic profile. The main objective of this work is to explore the existing evidence of effectiveness regarding feasible treatments for Affective Dependence through a scoping review of the international literature carried out using the main scientific databases and following the PRISMA-ScR (PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews) guidelines.
