This study assessed the proportion of secondary cardiovascular prevention patients who achieved low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol targets as per the 2019 ESC/EAS Dyslipidemia Guidelines. We also evaluated whether lipid-lowering therapies (LLTs) were adjusted in patients not meeting targets and analyzed the likelihood of these modifications achieving recommended levels. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the most prevalent cardiovascular risk factors in the general population, being associated with high morbidity and socioeconomic burden. Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a non-negligible complication of DM, whose pathophysiological fundaments are the altered cardiac metabolism, the hyperglycemia-triggered formation of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) and the inflammatory milieu which are typical in diabetic patients. These metabolic abnormalities lead to cardiomyocytes apoptosis, interstitial fibrosis and mechanical cardiac dysfunction, which can be identified with non-invasive imaging techniques, like echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance.

Background: The reduction in long-term mortality after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is less pronounced than that of in-hospital mortality among patients with AMI complicated by heart failure (HF) and/or in those with a high residual thrombotic risk (HTR).
Aim: To investigate the relative prognostic significance of HTR and HF in AMI survivors.

In view of largely available renewable electricity as a green future resource, here we report the electrification of a Rh/AlO washcoated SiSiC foam for methane steam reforming (MSR). We show that, thanks to the suitable bulk resistivity of the SiSiC foam, its direct Joule heating up to relevant temperatures is feasible; the interconnected geometry greatly reduces heat and mass transfer limitations, which results in a highly active and energy efficient system for low-carbon H production. The foam-based electrified MSR (eMSR) system showed almost full methane conversion above 700°C and methane conversions approaching equilibrium were obtained in a range of conditions.
