Objective.

A Case of Disseminated Mycobacterium Haemophilum in a Kidney Transplant Recipient Presenting With Subcutaneous Nodules.

Introduction: Dermatologic manifestations of diseases in solid organ transplant recipients are common due to long-term immunosuppression.

Case Presentation: We present the case of a 63-year-old man with a kidney transplant who exhibited subcutaneous nodules on lower extremities, cytopenia, and asymptomatic pulmonary infiltrate. Through a skin biopsy and 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) sequencing, was identified.

A Case Report of Valacyclovir-Associated Neurotoxicity in End-Stage Renal Disease: A Rare but Preventable Side Effect.

Neurotoxicity can develop as a side effect of valacyclovir in patients with renal disease, especially without a renally adjusted dose. We present a 56-year-old female with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) on hemodialysis (HD) who presented to the emergency room (ER) with agitation and confusion and was found to have valacyclovir-associated neurotoxicity (VAN). Five days prior, she had been prescribed the standard treatment of 500 mg valacyclovir twice daily for three days for herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1); however, her creatinine clearance was low enough to require a renally adjusted dose.

AXL Mediates Cetuximab and Radiation Resistance Through Tyrosine 821 and the c-ABL Kinase Pathway in Head and Neck Cancer.

Purpose: Radiation and cetuximab are therapeutics used in management of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Despite clinical success with these modalities, development of both intrinsic and acquired resistance is an emerging problem in the management of this disease. The purpose of this study was to investigate signaling of the receptor tyrosine kinase AXL in resistance to radiation and cetuximab treatment.
