Atrial-esophageal fistula (AEF) is a rare, but life-threatening complication of ablative treatments for atrial fibrillation. Although the incidence of this complication is low, the mortality is very high. There are many surgical approaches to this disease but we offer a novel technique to reduce the number of incisions used and provides central cannulation.

A unique feature of renal cell carcinoma is the extension of tumor into the inferior vena cava (IVC). We present the case of a 67-year-old man with a right renal mass, renal vein and IVC tumor thrombus, and acute occlusion of the common iliac veins. He underwent right radical nephrectomy, caval thrombectomy, bilateral iliofemoral vein thrombectomies, and intraoperative placement of an infrahepatic IVC filter.
