The Ili River Valley in Xinjiang, China, is a typical seasonal frozen area where loess landslide disasters have become increasingly common during the freeze-thaw periods in recent years. This study analyzed the macroscopic mechanical strength and microstructure changes of the Ili loess under different freeze-thaw cycles (FTCs) through the post-freeze-thaw triaxial compression test on the unsaturated soil in laboratory. Apart from the scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), the macro-micro correlation analysis and the cluster-principal component analysis were applied for the theoretical discussion.

Impact of 5-20% Hydroponic Wheat Sprouts Inclusion on Growth and Metabolic Parameters of Growing Ewes.

The aim of this study was to assess the impact of varying proportions (5-20%) of hydroponic wheat sprouts in the diet of growing four-month-old Hu ewes on their productive performance, metabolic profiles, rumen fermentation, and alterations in microflora. Effect of feeding hydroponic barley seedlings to lactating ewes on blood biochemical indexes and growth performance of lambs.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of replacing different ratios of basal diets with hydroponically barley seedlings (HBS) on the serum biochemical indexes and growth performance of lambs. It provides a theoretical basis for the use of HBS in ruminant health and scientific feeding management. In total, 30 ewes were randomly categorized into six groups (two control groups, 4 treatment groups, and 8 replicates in each group).

[Pseudo-aneurysm of mitro-aortic continuity: a rare complication after aortic valve replacement].

Pseudo-aneurysm of the fibrous continuity zone between the aortic and mitral valves, the so-called "mitral-aortic intervalvular fibrosa" is a rare complication of acute infective endocarditis, rarely after an aortic valve replacement. We report the case of a large pseudo-aneurysm occurred in a 70-year-old man, who had a history of surgical aortic valve replacement 3 years before. There were no biological or clinical evidence for infective acute endocarditis.

This is a case of an 82 year old female patient with myasthenia gravis, who following treatment with Human Normal Immunoglobulin (Tegeline(®)), developed dyspnoea, chest pain without cardiac insufficiency, inverted T wave on ECG with slight increase in Troponine T 0.43ng/mL (<0.2ng/mL normal value in our hospital) and marked increase in Pro-BNP 4900 (Nl≤450pg/mL for an age greater than 65 years old).

Thrombosis after mitral valvuloplasty: A review of two cases and the role of antithrombotic therapy.

We describe two cases of thrombosis after mitral valvuloplasty (MV). Antithrombotic therapy after MV in patients with no thromboembolic risk factors is essentially based on treatment with a platelet aggregation inhibitor. This strategy may not be sufficient in some cases and the introduction of oral anticoagulant therapy may be necessary.

Nurse management of 'same day' consultation for patients with minor illnesses: results of an extended programme in primary care in Catalonia.

Aims: This paper is a report of a study to assess the feasibility and efficacy of a programme of nurse management for patients requesting same day consultation for minor illnesses in primary care.

Background: The efficacy of such programmes has been demonstrated in randomized studies but there is little information on these programmes in highly populated areas.

Methods: Patients seeking same day consultation for one of 23 preselected minor illnesses (16 for adults, 7 for paediatric patients) from March 2009 to April 2010 were seen by trained nurses who followed predefined algorithms.

We have performed a retrospective survey on the management of ACS ST+ in French general hospitals in 2008. The aim was to assess adherence to recommendations of various scientific societies. Sixty-six hospitals responded.

[Myocardial infarction after voluntary intoxication by drug interaction between dipyridamole and aspirin].

A 60-year-old male presented a myocardial infarction after a voluntary overdose of Asasantine(®) started after strokes. He took chronically this association and some psychotropic drugs with vasodilator effects. After an intake of 40 tablets, he presented a cardiogenic shock with a myocardial infarction confirmed by biological samples, EKG, echocardiography and angiocoronarographie.

[Myocardial infarction and ovarian stimulation: case report].

Female infertility treated by ovarian stimulation can lead to arterial thrombosis particularly when ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome emerges. Myocardial infarction have been reported thrice, in one case even before artificial ovulation induction. A 25-year-old female with primary infertility underwent ovarian stimulation and eight days after ovulation induction and intra-uterine insemination suffered from a troponin positive non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction of the inferior wall.

[Diagnostic schelf: a case of pulmonary embolism with ST elevation].

Some pulmonary embolism may present electrocardiogram changes, which suggest the diagnosis of myocardial infarction. We report the case of a patient with such a confounding presentation. In this patient, the wrong diagnosis of myocardial infarction led to a primary coronarography which was normal and finally, echocardiogram gave us the key leading to a fibrinolitic treatment which improved the patient.

[Hemolytic anemia following mitral valve surgery].

Mitral valvuloplasty which is currently the most popular surgical procedure in MVD may be complicated mostly by restenosis or valvular leakage. Hemolysis occurs less frequently and by far less commonly than in prosthetic valves but deserves to be known. Delay between valvuloplasty and hemolytic anemia occurrence may vary within a wide range (from some weeks to several years as in the case we report here).

[Myocarditis or subendocardial myocardial infarction: role of MRI illustrated by a case report].

A 50-year-old male patient treated with mesalazine for Crohn's disease was admitted in our unit for a chest pain, associated with nonspecific ST depression or ECG and troponin elevation. Coronarography showed minimal changes while SPECT imagery suggested a posterobasal subendocardial infarction, so that the diagnosis was unclear between ischemic disease and mesalazine-induced myocarditis. Eventually, MRI demonstrated clearly a subendocardial posterior infarction eliciting the diagnosis of mesalazine-induced myocarditis.

[Treatment of acute coronary syndrome in a small volume center: "survival rate in hospital and at 2 years of follow up"].

[Management of antiplatelet therapy: a case report].

We report a personal case of myocardial infarction with flurbiprofen used instead of clopidogrel before an operation. We re-examined the literature concerning the management of the antiagregant treatment of the patient with angioplasty and/or stent who needs surgery. This management proves to be delicate and all the questions that it raises have not so far been answered in particular with regard to the problem of resistance to aspirin.

We report 2 cases of women (with an average age of 68 years). They were refered for suspected acute coronary syndrome including on admission chest pain and ST segment elevation.

[Results of percutaneous coronary intervention in a hospital with a low case load].

Is the interaction between felbamate and valproate against seizures induced by 4-aminopyridine and pentylenetetrazole in mice beneficial?

We compared the effects of adding a non-protective dose of valproate (VPA) to increasing single doses of felbamate (FBM) with those of monotherapy and vice versa in CD1 mice. Anticonvulsant effects were evaluated against seizures induced by 14 mg kg(-1) of 4-aminopyridine (4-AP) and by 110 mg kg(-1) of pentylenetetrazole (PTZ), and neurotoxicity by the rotarod test. The study also assessed changes in concentrations of anticonvulsants, gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and glutamate in the whole brain.
