Background: We assess the impact of bone health clinical management in breast cancer (BC) patients receiving adjuvant endocrine therapy and design a personalized clinical pathway to reduce bone loss in an Italian research hospital.

Methods: The primary endpoint was to assess (through the process improvement organizational method) the clinical pathway that post-surgical BC patients prescribed with endocrine therapy undergo to prevent bone loss. The secondary endpoint was to design a personalized clinical pathway for a prompt implementation of guidelines, to assess and possibly prescribe antiresorptive therapy.

Background: Advances in the treatment of gynecological cancer have led to improvements in survival but also an increase in menopausal symptoms, especially in young women with premature iatrogenic menopause.

Methods: A narrative review was performed to clarify the possibility of prescribing hormone replacement therapy (HRT) after hormone-dependent gynecological cancers (ovarian cancer [OC], cervical adenocarcinoma [AC], and endometrial cancer [EC]).

Results: HRT can be prescribed to patients with early-stage, grade I-II OC who experience bothersome menopausal symptoms non-responsive to alternative non-hormone therapy after optimal surgery.

Trastuzumab emtansine (Kadcyla®) was the first antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2013 against a solid tumor, and the first ADC to treat human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 positive (HER2+) breast cancer. Protein products of essential genes, indispensable for organismal survival, are highly conserved and bring about fundamental functions. Interestingly, proteins that contain amino acid homorepeats that tend to evolve rapidly are enriched in eukaryotic essentialomes. Why are proteins with hypermutable homorepeats enriched in conserved and functionally vital essential proteins? We solve this functional versus evolutionary paradox by demonstrating that human essential proteins with homorepeats bring about crosstalk across biological processes through high interactability and have distinct regulatory functions affecting expansive global regulation.

Phosphate slurries are studied using the XRF technique and the effect of the particle sizes and the water content parameters are analyzed and reported for the first time. Samples of the phosphate slurry with different particle sizes (425 µm, 300 µm, 250 µm, 200 µm, 160 µm and 106 µm) and different water contents (30%, 40%, 50%, 60%) were analyzed using an energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDXRF). The results show that the relative error of measurement varies with the particle size of the analyzed sample, the water content and the element measured.

Sexual dysfunction in female cancer patients remains under-diagnosed and under-treated.
