The academic performance of nursing students significantly impacts their ability to deliver quality patient care. This descriptive correlational study investigated the effects of nursing students' locus of control, motivation, and learning strategies on their academic performance in a sample of 515 students. External locus of control was associated with higher scores in extrinsic goal orientation, task value, elaboration, and academic performance.

Nursing faced a challenge in caring for COVID-19 patients in terms of keeping their chests clear from secretions, which required much effort from already-exhausted patients, along with the tasks of minimizing dyspnea and cough, strengthening immunity status, and improving their activity levels. The present study aimed to evaluate improvement of dyspnea and activity levels after 1 week of applying a mobile health nursing protocol for positive COVID-19 patients. The study was conducted in quarantine hospitals in Cairo on 90 COVID-19-positive patients who agreed to participate in the study, were fully conscious, were themselves able to use mobile phone applications (or their accompanying relatives were), and were not in need of artificial ventilation.

With implementation of information technology in healthcare settings to promote safety and evidence-based nursing care, a growing emphasis on the importance of nursing informatics competencies has emerged. This study assessed the relationship between nursing informatics and patient safety competencies among nursing students and nursing interns. A descriptive, cross-sectional correlational design with a convenience sample of 154 participants (99 nursing students and 55 interns) completed the Self-assessment of Nursing Informatics Competencies and Patient Safety Competencies.
