Endosalpingiosis occurs in relatively young women. The incidence of endosalpingiosis exceeds that of other diseases affecting female tissues. As endosalpingiosis is a benign tumor, several women with endosalpingiosis are asymptomatic.

Background: Underground research laboratories (URLs) provide a window on the deep biosphere and enable investigation of potential microbial impacts on nuclear waste, CO and H stored in the subsurface. Although microvascular decompression (MVD) is a reliable treatment for hemifacial spasm (HFS), delayed postoperative relief is one of its main issues. We previously evaluated the morphology of the lateral spread response (LSR) and reported the correlation between delayed relief after MVD and polyphasic morphology of the LSR. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between the morphology of the LSR with stimulation of the temporal and mandibular branches of the facial nerve and delayed relief of persistent HFS after MVD.

Surgical Treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Arising from Fontan-associated Liver Disease: A Report of Three Cases.

We herein report three patients with Fontan-associated liver disease (FALD) who developed hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). All three patients had very high serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) concentrations, and their HCCs were located in the peripheral areas of the liver. To identify the characteristics of FALD-HCC, we reviewed previously published case reports that included descriptions of imaging.

Association between patient position-induced breast shape changes on prone and supine MRI and mammographic breast density or thickness.

Purpose: The breast shape differs between the prone position in breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and the supine position on an operating table. We sought to determine the relationship between patient position-induced changes on prone and supine MRI in breast shape and mammographic breast density or thickness.

Materials And Methods: We evaluated data from 68 women with 69 breast cancers in this retrospective observational study.

Optimization of pretreatment protocol for strontium-90 analysis in marine fish bone samples.

For systematic monitoring of radioactive nuclides in marine products, this study aimed at streamlining and simplifying the analysis method for the prominent radioisotope, strontium-90 (90Sr). The DGA chelate solid-phase extraction technique was employed for enhanced efficiency. The study focused on optimizing the necessary pretreatment procedures while minimizing the steps involving HNO3 leaching.

Hanle Effect for Lifetime Determinations in the Soft X-Ray Regime.

By exciting a series of 1s^{2} ^{1}S_{0}→1snp^{1}P_{1} transitions in heliumlike nitrogen ions with linearly polarized monochromatic soft x rays at the Elettra facility, we found a change in the angular distribution of the fluorescence sensitive to the principal quantum number n. In particular it is observed that the ratio of emission in directions parallel and perpendicular to the polarization of incident radiation increases with higher n. We find this n dependence to be a manifestation of the Hanle effect, which served as a practical tool for lifetime determinations of optical transitions since its discovery in 1924.

Complete genome sequence of sp. strain V2501 isolated from 250 m below the ground level in Horonobe, Hokkaido, Japan.

A thiosulfate-oxidizing bacterium, sp. strain V2501, was isolated from groundwater collected in a terrestrial deep subsurface environment. This strain was capable of chemolithoautotrophic growth on CO and thiosulfate.

Association between in-hospital exclusive breastfeeding and subsequent exclusive breastfeeding until 6 months postpartum in Japan: A cross-sectional study.

Breastfeeding practices during hospitalisation may influence subsequent breastfeeding practices; however, this association has not been well studied in Japan. Therefore, we aimed to examine the association between exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) during hospitalisation and that under 6 months and describe the change in breastfeeding patterns from the first to the sixth month based on the breastfeeding status during hospitalisation. This nationwide cross-sectional internet survey conducted in Japan included 1,433 postpartum women of < 6 months who underwent live singleton deliveries between January 2021 and August 2021.

Timing of onset of intraoperative transfusion anaphylaxis: a literature review.

Clinical diagnosis of intraoperative transfusion anaphylaxis using clinical symptoms is challenging and should be made carefully, as an incorrect clinical diagnosis can exacerbate surgical bleeding secondary to stopping a clinically indicated blood transfusion. The timing of onset of anaphylaxis to start of transfusion may be the key to correctly diagnosing intraoperative transfusion anaphylaxis clinically. However, the reliability of this measure remains unknown.

Lignin-carbohydrate complexes (LCCs) present a considerable hurdle to the economic utilization of lignocellulosic biomass. Glucuronoyl esterase (GE) is an LCC-degrading enzyme that catalyzes the cleavage of the cross-linkages between lignin and xylan in LCCs. Benzyl-d-glucuronate (Bn-GlcA), a commercially available substrate, is widely used to evaluate GE activity assays.

Extra-articular corrective osteotomy may be necessary for severe deformities. A 76-year-old man underwent TKA for knee OA with EAD due to malunion after fractures of the femur and tibia.

Lung squamous cell carcinoma responding to nivolumab retreatment six years after initial treatment: A case report.

A 61-year-old man presented to our hospital with a chief complaint of chronic cough. He was diagnosed with lung squamous cell carcinoma at clinical stage cT2aN3M1a. He received chemotherapy up to the fourth line, but both the primary tumor and lymph node metastases increased in size.

An unbiased ranking of murine dietary models based on their proximity to human metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), previously known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, encompasses steatosis and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), leading to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Preclinical MASLD research is mainly performed in rodents; however, the model that best recapitulates human disease is yet to be defined. We conducted a wide-ranging retrospective review (metabolic phenotype, liver histopathology, transcriptome benchmarked against humans) of murine models (mostly male) and ranked them using an unbiased MASLD 'human proximity score' to define their metabolic relevance and ability to induce MASH-fibrosis.

Promotion of Thermal Inactivation Treatment of Apple Polyphenol Oxidase in the Presence of Trehalose.

Trehalose is known to protect enzymes from denaturation. In the present study, we observed promotion of apple polyphenol oxidase (PPO) inactivation in a trehalose solution with thermal treatment. Crude PPO from Fuji apple was mixed with either sucrose or trehalose solutions, then the samples treated at 25 or 65 °C.
