Objective: To analyze the anxiety levels and sleep quality of elite soccer athletes in training pre-pandemic and during the lockdown caused by COVID-19.
Method: This is an exploratory study with a longitudinal design carried out with elite soccer athletes from two Brazilian soccer clubs. Data collection took place in person pre-pandemic (training) and online (during lockdown) between February and May 2020.
Background: Sport performance is a multifactorial phenotype dependent on the interaction of multiple genetic and non-genetic factors. More than 200 polymorphisms have been associated with athletic performance. The single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs35767, located in the regulatory region of the IGF1 gene, influences its expression and has been associated with sports-related phenotypes.

Saliva can provide insight into a number of interesting biomarkers such as cortisol, testosterone, immunoglobulins, alpha-amylase, and melatonin, among others. Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in cytokines levels in the peripheral blood of kayakers at different moments of training.
Methods: The sample comprised 12 elite kayakers preparing for the Beijing Olympic Games. Blood samples were collected at different time points of the training season: baseline (t0-November) after 6 weeks of off-training and before the start of the training season; t1 (January) at week 11 after a period of high-volume training; t2 (April) at week 26 at the end of a period of high intensity training sessions; t3 (June) at week 31 after a competitive period.
