Aerobic respiration is supported by heme-dependent terminal oxidases that catalyze the final step of aerobic respiration, the reduction of O2 to H2O. An inability to respire forces bacteria to generate energy via fermentation, resulting in reduced growth.

Problem: Limited research on pharmacologic treatments for pediatric major depressive disorder (MDD) exists.
Methods: Prescription practices data for MDD from 1,209 American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry members collected in 1998 are compared to the current empirical support for this treatment approach.
