This review analyzes the occurrence and co-exposure of aflatoxins and fumonisins in conventional and organic corn, and compares the vulnerability to contamination of both. The risks of fungal contamination in corn are real, mainly by the genera and , producers of aflatoxins and fumonisins, respectively. Aflatoxins, especially AFB, are related to a high incidence of liver cancer, and the International Agency Research of Cancer (IARC) classified them in group 1A 'carcinogenic to humans'.

The remission of obesity-related diseases following bariatric surgery appears to result from the reorganization of metabolic and hormonal pathways involving adipokines. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between changes in body adiposity and serum adipokine levels, as well as the association between variations in adiponectin or resistin levels and cardiometabolic risk blood biomarkers before and after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. The objective of this study is to assess the effectiveness of treatment for inflammatory bowel diseases in modulating oxidative stress biomarkers and cytokine levels. A systematic review of clinical trials was conducted, searching electronic databases including PubMed, Science Direct, and Scopus. After excluding articles that did not meet the inclusion criteria, 19 studies were included in the systematic review and 8 in the meta-analysis (6 for antioxidant capacity, 6 for superoxide dismutase (SOD), and 5 for lipid peroxidation analyzed through malondialdehyde (MDA) levels).

Purpose: To evaluate the influence of low-dose protocols, with different numbers of basis images, on the precision of linear bone measurements in CBCT images.
Materials And Methods: Five polyurethane mandibles, with different levels of bone resorption, were used in this in vitro study. To obtain the reference standard, landmarks were made in the mandibular superior and buccal cortices, and then a digital caliper was used to measure the bone height and thickness at these regions.
Purpose: As the hard palate is a central structure of the skull and is involved in orthodontic and surgical procedures, it would be of interest to study the morphological aspects of this bone and its possible variations as per different patterns of skeletal development. Thus, this study aimed to develop a classification for the different morphological characteristics of the hard palate and to evaluate the relationship between these characteristics and the different skeletal patterns, using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).
Materials And Methods: This retrospective and cross-sectional study used CBCT scans of patients seen from January 2014 to December 2016.
This study evaluated the influence of chewing-side preference on the volume of the mandibular condyle and coronoid process and the dynamic parameters of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Cone beam computed tomographic scans of both TMJs of 90 individuals with a chewing-side preference were obtained while the patients were in the closed-mouth and maximum mouth-opening positions (test power ≥ 0.80).
