Assessment of Quality of Life in Class III Patients Undergoing Orthognathic Surgery.

Objective: This study sought to evaluate the quality of life in patients with class III malocclusion and dentofacial deformity undergoing orthognathic surgery.

Materials And Methods: This study evaluated 25 patients with Angle's class III malocclusion submitted to orthognathic surgery through the application of the B-OQLQ questionnaire, over two periods: 30 days before surgery (T0) and 6 months after surgery (T1). The B-OQLQ is a specific questionnaire to assess quality of life in patients with dentofacial deformities.

Effect of grade 3 placenta <36 weeks of pregnancy on perinatal outcomes.

Background: The aim of this study was to assess whether the presence of grade 3 placenta <36 weeks of pregnancy is associated with adverse perinatal outcomes.

Methods: Retrospective cohort study in which patients were separated into the following three groups: 1) grade 3 placenta <36 weeks, 2) grade 3 placenta >36 weeks, 3) no occurrence of grade 3 placenta throughout pregnancy. The χ and general linear model tests were used to compare adverse perinatal outcomes.

Massive thrombosis and phlegmasia cerulea dolens while taking rivaroxaban: case report and review.

Our study describes a fatal case of phlegmasia cerulea dolens and massive venous thrombosis in a patient taking rivaroxaban regularly to treat cerebral venous sinus thrombosis. Blood tests samples were positive for lupus anticoagulant. The unique evolution of the case, as well as the positivity for lupus anticoagulant, raises the possibility of an acquired hypercoagulation syndrome.

Background: Barrett's esophagus a complication of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a precursor of esophageal adenocarcinoma. The incidence of esophageal adenocarcinoma has been increasing in most Western countries. Rio Grande do Sul (RS), the Southernmost state of Brazil has the highest rates of esophageal cancer with low prevalence of esophageal adenocarcinoma.

Background: The diagnosis of H. pylori infection can be performed by non-invasive and invasive methods.The identification through a fecal antigen test is a non-invasive, simple, and relatively inexpensive test.
