Victimization of youth with type-1 diabetes by teachers: relations with adherence and metabolic control.

This study examined rates of teacher victimization and relationships between teacher victimization, adherence and metabolic control in 167 young people with type-1 diabetes. Questions that assessed diabetes-related victimization from teachers were administered to young people with type-1 diabetes. Metabolic control was measured with HbA1c values and diabetes self-management was assessed using the parent version of the Diabetes Self-Management Profile (DSMP).

Bullying, regimen self-management, and metabolic control in youth with type I diabetes.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the factor structure of the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale for Children and Adolescents (LSAS-CA). The LSAS-CA was administered to 225 children and adolescents as a component of various clinical studies. In addition, other measures of psychopathology and impairment were administered to a subgroup of the sample.

The relation between family factors and metabolic control: the role of diabetes adherence.

An educational Website was designed by the Florida Initiative in Telehealth and Education group, and an online diabetes education test was developed using a sample of 60 children and young adults aged 8-22 years, all of whom had diabetes. The 31 items were analysed for item difficulty. Eight test items were eliminated as being unsuitable.

Peer victimization and the development of obsessive-compulsive disorder in adolescence.

We describe an adolescent boy's experience of peer victimization and its relation with his development of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Subsequent to being peer victimized, this boy was seen for 20 sessions of cognitive-behavioral therapy over the course of 4 weeks that followed the protocol outlined by March and Mulle in 1998. Standardized post-treatment assessment indicated significant reductions in OCD, depressive, and anxious symptomatology as compared to baseline.

Social-psychological correlates of peer victimization in children with endocrine disorders.

This study tested a dual-mediation model of the relations among harsh parenting, hostile social information processing, and level of child aggression in a sample of 239 (150 male, 89 female) 2nd- to 4th-grade children. This study investigated the frequency and psychosocial correlates of peer victimization in a sample of youths with diabetes. The Social Experience Questionnaire, Children's Depression Inventory, Social Anxiety Scale for Children-Revised, and Asher Loneliness Scale were administered to 32 children diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and 32 control children without a medical diagnosis who were matched for age and gender. Results indicated that children with diabetes reported higher rates of relational victimization and lower levels of prosocial peer support than youths without diabetes.

Training in pediatric psychology: a survey of predoctoral internship programs.

Objective: To describe internship training in pediatric psychology and to determine its correspondence with the recommendations of the Society of Pediatric Psychology (SPP) Task Force on Training.

Methods: A survey based on the Task Force recommendations was sent to all internship programs that reported offering a major rotation in pediatrics.

Results: Opportunities in a wide range of assessment and intervention strategies were available.
