Can exposure to sexual objectification impact policy attitudes? Evidence from two survey experiments.

Research in social psychology has long argued that exposure to objectifying portrayals of women can lead to increasingly misogynist attitudes and behavior. We argue that such images can also impact on gendered policy attitudes. We suggest that objectifying images prime sexist attitudes and reduce perceptions of women's agency, warmth, and competence.

Local Trends in Total Joint Arthroplasty and Orthopaedic Surgeon Distribution in the United States.

Introduction: Total joint arthroplasty (TJA) volume and the number of orthopaedic surgeons in the United States have increased in recent years, but local growth variation has not been studied. This study assesses recent changes in state-level distribution of orthopaedic surgeons in the United States and corresponding local trends in TJA volume.

Methods: Data from the National Inpatient Sample database (2000 to 2014) were reviewed.

In Kinematically Aligned Total Knee Arthroplasty, Failure to Recreate Native Tibial Alignment Is Associated With Early Revision.

Background: The goal of kinematically aligned (KA) total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is to restore native knee anatomy. However, there are concerns about patellofemoral tracking problems with this technique that lead to early revision. We measured the differences between preoperative anatomic alignment and postoperative component alignment in a consecutive series of KA TKA and evaluated the association between alignment changes and the likelihood of early revision.

Quantifying light exposure patterns in young adult students.

Exposure to bright light appears to be protective against myopia in both animals (chicks, monkeys) and children, but quantitative data on human light exposure are limited. In this study, we report on a technique for quantifying light exposure using wearable sensors. Twenty-seven young adult subjects wore a light sensor continuously for two weeks during one of three seasons, and also completed questionnaires about their visual activities.
