Pregnancy induces significant changes in the maternal cardiovascular system, and insufficient vascular endothelial adaptations to pregnancy contribute to the development of pregnancy complications such as pre-eclampsia. Pre-eclampsia is not only a major cause of maternal morbidity and mortality, but also a significant risk factor for the development of later-life cardiovascular disease. However, the specific mechanisms underlying the pathophysiology of pre-eclampsia, as well as the mechanisms for an increased susceptibility to cardiovascular disease later in life, are not fully characterized.

Methods: Four formulations were manipulated (F): F1, control group, (0 % CM); F2 (15 % CM); F3 (19.8 % CM) and F4 (30 % CM).
To evaluate the polymerization shrinkage stress and cuspal strain (CS) generated in an artificial (typodont) and in a natural tooth using different resin composites. Twenty artificial and 20 extracted natural molars were selected. Each tooth was prepared with a 4x4 mm MOD cavity.

In contrast, excessive pregnancy-specific hypercholesterolemia increases the risk of complications, such as preeclampsia. However, the underlying mechanisms are unclear.

While it is well accepted that heart failure involves changes in myocardial energetics, what alterations that occur in fatty acid oxidation and glucose oxidation in the failing heart remains controversial. The goal of the study are to define the energy metabolic profile in heart failure induced by obesity and hypertension in aged female mice, and to attempt to lessen the severity of heart failure by stimulating myocardial glucose oxidation.

In 1955, the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) was created in Switzerland to improve neurosurgical care globally through the scientific cooperation of members. The performance of neurosurgical associations today is fundamental to discuss diagnostic methods and therapeutic approaches, transforming modern medicine.

Two flexible die silicone materials for dental models (Die Silicone - Voco and Scan die - Yller) and a type IV dental stone material (Fujirock EP - GC) were evaluated. Sixty third molars were selected and divided into four groups: indirect resin composite restoration - Die silicone (IRCR-DS); indirect resin composite restoration - Scan die (IRCR-SD); indirect resin composite restoration - Fujirock EP (IRCR-FR), and direct resin composite restoration (DRCR).

Mouth aging leads to some changes, one of them being the pulp volume reduction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of different pulp cavity volumes and the impact direction on the stress and strain distribution of a maxillary central incisor.

The compounds were synthesized, and their antifungal activity was elucidated through minimum inhibitory concentration tests and interaction assay with other antifungals. Potential targets of compounds were predicted .

While various pathways drive vascular alterations in diabetes, many gaps persist in understanding this process. Heat-shock protein 70 (HSP70) has a long-recognized role in diabetes, but the contributions of HSP70 to the diabetic vasculature remain largely unknown.

We hypothesized that female animals display reduced intrinsic media-layer stiffness, which associates with improved vascular function. Atomic force microscopy (AFM)-based nanoindentation analysis was used to derive stiffness (Young's modulus) in biaxially (i.

The maintenance of ant colonies in controlled environments enables an enriched comprehension of their biology that can contribute to applied research. This practice is usually employed in population control studies of species that cause economic loss, such as Atta ants.

In most cases, the treatment of these conditions involves a multidisciplinary approach. Orthodontic treatment together with direct composite resin veneers are a viable option to close diastemata and alter tooth shape.

However, it is unknown if age-related alterations in HSP70 are linked to a decline in arterial function. In this study, we test the hypothesis that the contributions of HSP70 to vascular contraction are diminished in middle-aged animals.

The olive crop has expanded in the southeastern region of South America, particularly in Brazil. Thus, the objectives of this study were to identify the diversity of endophytic microorganisms associated with olive leaves with culture-dependent and culture-independent methods, to explore which factors influence the composition and abundance of this microbial community, to identify the trophic mode of these fungi by FunGuild and, to verify type associations between bacterial and fungal communities. Leaf samples were collected from 93 plants in nine locations in the Brazilian states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais.

Hyperglycemia, a hallmark of both types of diabetes, increases the circulating levels of HSP70 (eHSP70), but there is still divergence about whether diabetes up- or down-regulates the intracellular fraction of this protein (iHSP70). Here, we consider that iHSP70 levels reduce in diabetic arterial structures and that the vascular system is in direct contact with all other systems in the body suggesting that a systemic response might also be happening for iHSP70, which is characterized by decreased levels of HSP70 in the vasculature.

The aims of this study were to (1) Evaluate the elastic modulus of different EVA commercial brands used for custom-fitted mouthguards, and (2) Evaluate whether the different EVA brands can influence the stress and strain generated during an impact simulated by three-dimensional finite element analysis.
Methods: The elastic modulus of five EVA commercial brands (Essence , Bio-Art , Proform , PolyShok , and Erkodent ) were calculated through uniaxial tensile tests.
In this work was described the phytochemical investigation of Vogel (Fabaceae) leaves as well as the insecticidal activity of its crude extract and fractions against Linnaeus (Hymenoptera: Formicidae). The phytochemical study led to the identification of α-amyrin, β-amyrin, lupeol, phytol, isomucronulatol and rutin, described for the first time in and mucronulatol. Insecticidal activity was assessed by the ingestion of the crude extract and fractions incorporated into an artificial diet at three different concentrations (0.

Ants, an ecologically successful and numerically dominant group of animals, play key ecological roles as soil engineers, predators, nutrient recyclers, and regulators of plant growth and reproduction in most terrestrial ecosystems. Further, ants are widely used as bioindicators of the ecological impact of land use. We gathered information of ant species in the Atlantic Forest of South America.
