This study aimed to isolate salt-tolerant pectinolytic bacteria from the rhizosphere of a salt marsh plant and utilize their pectinases for the clarification of detox juice preparation. Sixteen halophilic bacterial strains were isolated from the rhizospheric soil of . The isolates were screened for pectinase activity, and two strains, ASA21 and ASA29, exhibited the highest pectinase production in the presence of 2.

The human gut microbiota is a complex ecosystem harboring thousands of microbial strains that play a crucial role in maintaining the overall well-being of its host. The composition of the gut microbiota varies with age from infancy to adulthood and is influenced by dietary habits, environment, and genetic disposition. Recent advances in culture-independent techniques and nucleic acid sequencing have improved our understanding of the diversity of the gut microbiota.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are healthcare problems that commonly involve bacterial and, in some rare instances, fungal or viral infections. The irrational prescription and use of antibiotics in UTI treatment have led to an increase in antibiotic resistance. Urine samples (145) were collected from male and female patients from Lower Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan.

Halophytes are the native inhabitants of saline environment. Their biomass can be considered as a potential substrate for the production of microbial enzymes. This study was intended at feasible utilization of a halophytic biomass, Cressia cretica, for pectinase production using a halo- and thermo-tolerant bacterium, Bacillus vallismortis MH 10.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the prevalence and antibiotic resistance of carbapenem-resistant uropathogens from the Enterobacteriaceae family in diabetic patients, focusing on samples collected over a year.
  • The most common pathogens identified were Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, with over 50% of isolates showing resistance to 22 antibiotics, especially tetracycline, ampicillin, and cefazolin.
  • While resistance to carbapenems was high, it was less common than ESBL producers; interestingly, the isolates had shown some susceptibility to newer antibiotics like cefiderocol and eravacycline.

Endophytic and rhizospheric bacteria isolated from halophytic plants support their host to survive in hyper-saline soil. These bacteria are also known to produce various enzymes with potential industrial applications. In this study, the endophytic and rhizospheric bacteria were isolated from collected from Karachi, Pakistan, and their ability to produce various extracellular enzymes was assessed using commercial and natural substrates.

Malachite green (MG) dye is a common environmental pollutant that threatens human health and the integrity of the Earth's ecosystem. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential biodegradation of MG dye by actinomycetes species isolated from planted soil near an industrial water effluent in Cairo, Egypt. The isolate St 45 was selected according to its high efficiency for laccase production.

This study aims to determine the impact of dietary energy levels on rumen microbial composition and its relationship to the quality of Black Tibetan sheep meat by applying metabolomics and Pearson's correlation analyses. For this purpose, UHPLC-QTOF-MS was used to identify the metabolome, whereas 16S rDNA sequencing was used to detect the rumen microbiota. Eventually, we observed that the high energy diet group (HS) improved the carcass quality of Black Tibetan sheep and fat deposition in the (LL) compared to the medium energy diet group (MS).

Burkholderia have potential as biocontrol agents because they encode diverse biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) for a range of antimicrobial metabolites. Given the opportunistic pathogenicity associated with Burkholderia species, heterologous BGC expression within non-pathogenic hosts is a strategy to construct safe biocontrol strains. We constructed a yeast-adapted Burkholderia-Escherichia shuttle vector (pMLBAD_yeast) with a yeast replication origin 2 μ and URA3 selection marker and optimised it for cloning BGCs using the in vivo recombination ability of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

is a ubiquitous opportunistic bacterium that causes diseases in animals and humans. This study aimed to investigate the genetic diversity, antimicrobial resistance, biofilm formation, and virulence and antibiotic resistance genes of isolated from the uterus of cow, camel, and mare with clinical endometritis and their drinking water. Among the 180 uterine swabs and 90 drinking water samples analysed, 54 (20%) isolates were recovered.
