Surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis (SAP), when used appropriately based on evidence-based guidelines, can reduce the rate of infectious complications following endourologic procedures without compromising patient outcomes. To investigate the appropriateness of the current SAP used in endourologic surgeries based on international guidelines and report their associated outcomes (urinary tract infection [UTI] and blood stream infection [BSI]). Knowledge, attitudes and practices related to influenza illness and vaccination in children: Role of awareness campaigns in changing parents' attitudes toward influenza vaccination in Jordan.

Background: Influenza infection is associated with a significant health burden in children, especially in developing countries. The influenza vaccine is an important preventive strategy for flu illness. Aim of this study to assess knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) related to influenza illness and vaccination in children in the Jordanian population and to study the effect of awareness campaigns on changing the attitudes of parents toward vaccinating their children against influenza.

Preferential Association of Lissencephaly-1 Gene Expression with CD133+ Glioblastoma Cells.

Lissencephaly-1 (Lis1) protein is a dynein-binding protein involved in neural stem cell division, morphogenesis and motility. To determine whether Lis1 is a key factor in glioblastoma, we evaluated its expression and function in CD133+ glioblastoma cells. Global, Lis1 gene expression is similar in glioblastoma and normal samples.

Acetazolamide therapy evaluation in haemorrhagic stroke.

The influence of acetazolamide in patients with hemorrhagic stroke was assessed in 54 patients in comparison with the influence of other therapies in 68 patients included in a control group. Modified Rankin Scale and mortality rate were evaluated at three different moments: onset, 72 hours and control (3 weeks-one month from the onset). A better outcome was seen when acetazolamide was given.
