Intraperitoneal Haemorrhage Secondary to Rupture of Right Colic Artery Pseudoaneurysm: A Case Report and Literature Review.

This article presents the case of a 58-year-old woman who presented feeling unwell with pain in the right upper abdomen for three days. She had a history of splenic infarcts, was on lifelong warfarin and had recently returned from a trip to Gambia. She was admitted to the hospital under suspicion of sepsis of unknown origin, and a CT scan later revealed haemoperitoneum along with a pseudoaneurysm of the right colic artery.

Phonon confinement and particle size effect on the low-frequency Raman mode of aurivillius phase BiTiO powders.

We report the systematic measurements in bismuth titanate powders of Raman frequency shift, and full width at half maximum (FWHM), of optical phonons at = 0 obtained between ∼300 K and 673 K in air. Both the particle size and phonon confinement effects are reasonably satisfactory to explain the Raman peak shift and asymmetric broadening observed in the ferroelectric soft phonon mode at 42 cm. It is shown that the lattice parameter varies as particle size , and its contribution to size-dependent Raman shift and broadening of linewidth follows ∝ and ∝ law, respectively.

B-site modified photoferroic Cr-doped barium titanate nanoparticles: microwave-assisted hydrothermal synthesis, photocatalytic and electrochemical properties.

We report on the synthesis of photoferroic Cr-doped BaTiO nanoparticles with nominal Cr content ranging from 2-8 mol% by a microwave-assisted hydrothermal method. The absorption properties of the doped systems are significantly enhanced due to the d-d band transition of Cr. The structural properties of the materials are examined on the basis of lattice distortions given by the tolerance factor and microstrain.

Solitary rectal ulcer syndrome (SRUS) is a rare condition that typically affects young adults and describes a spectrum of clinicopathological abnormalities. The diagnosis of SRUS is usually made on the basis of a combination of presenting symptoms and endoscopic and histological appearances. Characteristic radiological appearances have been described on transrectal and endoanal ultrasound, defecating proctography and barium enema.

Identification of an HD patient with a (CAG)180 repeat expansion and the propagation of highly expanded CAG repeats in lambda phage.

The Huntington's disease mutation has been identified as a CAG/polyglutamine repeat expansion in a large gene of unknown function. In order to develop the transgenic systems necessary to uncover the molecular pathology of this disorder, it is necessary to be able to manipulate highly expanded CAG repeats in a cloned form. We have identified a patient with an expanded allele of greater than 170 repeat units and have cloned the mutant allele in the lambda zap vector.
