In 2011, he presented with a cervical mass whose biopsy diagnosed a papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) in a lymph node metastasis (LNM). Total thyroidectomy with lymphadenectomy of central and ipsilateral compartment was performed.

Results: Here, we implement a forward-in-time population-genetic simulator (STUN) based on Wright-Fisher dynamics. STUN is a flexible and user-friendly software package for simulating the polygenic adaptation of recombining haploid populations using either new mutations or standing genetic variation.

Telangiectasia macularis eruptiva perstans (TMEP) is a rare disease, previously classified as a variant of cutaneous mastocytosis. We report a case of a 63-year-old woman who presented with long-standing asymptomatic telangiectatic macules beginning on the upper chest, back, and bilateral arms, with occasional pruritus and no other systemic symptoms.

Acute presentation of renal pseudoaneurysms in a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus after percutaneous renal biopsy.

The development of renal pseudoaneurysms following percutaneous kidney biopsy is a rare but potentially dangerous complication due to the risk of rupture with subsequent hemorrhage. We describe a female patient in her 20s with long-standing lupus nephritis who presented to the hospital for elective CT-guided left renal biopsy that was complicated by pseudoaneurysms in the bilateral kidneys. Post-biopsy, she developed a perinephric hematoma that extended to the upper pelvis with resultant superior displacement and diminished blood flow to the left kidney.

How does standing genetic variation affect polygenic adaptation in recombining populations? Despite a large body of work in quantitative genetics, epistatic and weak additive fitness effects among simultaneously segregating genetic variants are difficult to capture experimentally or to predict theoretically. In this study, we simulated adaptation on fitness landscapes with tunable ruggedness driven by standing genetic variation in recombining populations. We confirmed that recombination hinders the movement of a population through a rugged fitness landscape.
