Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia is a genetic disorder that causes ventricular tachyarrhythmias via increased release of intracellular calcium. The standard diagnostic measure is an exercise stress test that reveals ventricular ectopy. We present an extraordinary case marked by a normal stress test and no relation to exertion.

Background Right ventricular systolic dysfunction (RVSD) is a known risk factor for adverse outcome in surgical aortic valve replacement. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), on the other hand, has been shown to be either beneficial or have no effect on right ventricular systolic function. However, the prognostic significance of RVSD on TAVR has not been clearly determined.

Dolphin stranding events occur frequently in Florida and Massachusetts. Dolphins are an excellent sentinel species for toxin exposures in the marine environment. In this report we examine whether cyanobacterial neurotoxin, β-methylamino-L-alanine (BMAA), is present in stranded dolphins.
