Our research group previously studied the effectiveness of lipid-core nanocapsules (LNC) containing simvastatin (SV-LNC) in treating cognitive impairment in rats. While our results were promising, we needed to evaluate the potential toxicity of the nanoparticles themselves. This study aimed to compare the biochemical and hematological parameters of adult Wistar rats receiving LNC or SV-LNC to those receiving low doses of simvastatin crystals dispersed in a saline solution over 45 days.

The armamentarium of surgical treatment options for lumbar spondylolisthesis (LS) includes decompression alone, stabilization with interlaminar devices, or instrumented fusion, through open or minimally invasive approaches. Despite its safe profuse use in distinctive lumbar spine disorders, using percutaneous pedicle screws (PPSs) alone to stabilize LS has never been described before. We performed a retrospective study of prospectively collected data, enrolling 24 patients with LS and scrutinizing clinical and radiological outcomes.

Cervical spondylosis is the leading cause of cervical myelopathy. When surgery is indicated, it is commonly addressed through an anterior or posterior cervical approach, such as cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) or laminectomy and fusion (LMF). Besides their own merits, each one has specific approach- or device-related complications, such as dysphagia, significant postoperative pain, wound infection, adjacent segment degeneration (ASD), and pseudoarthrosis.

Background: Thirty years have passed since Kambin's first clinical series of lumbar disc herniations (LDH) treated by arthroscopic microdiscectomy. Despite several advances in this interim, sequestrated LDHs over the dorsal aspect of the dura, and high-grade up- or downward disc migration have been a relative limitation of the transforaminal endoscopic technique. The interlaminar window was the next step to deal with such highly migrated LDHs.
