Our research group previously studied the effectiveness of lipid-core nanocapsules (LNC) containing simvastatin (SV-LNC) in treating cognitive impairment in rats. While our results were promising, we needed to evaluate the potential toxicity of the nanoparticles themselves. This study aimed to compare the biochemical and hematological parameters of adult Wistar rats receiving LNC or SV-LNC to those receiving low doses of simvastatin crystals dispersed in a saline solution over 45 days.

It is applied to describe electrochemical systems and support the development of important technologies, offering a much more detailed investigation of properties than other conventional electrochemical techniques. EIS employs a modulated frequency to understand frequency-dependent electrochemical processes, thereby clarifying both fast and slow processes.

Introduction: The increase in infectious diseases mediated by oral bacteria has been one of the most potent threats to human health, specifically to the elderly. Researchers seek to incorporate antimicrobial nanomaterials into PMMA to control the colonization of microorganisms and reduce deadly diseases.
Objective: To conduct a systematic review to answer the question: "Does graphene oxide incorporated into polymethylmethacrylate influence its antimicrobial activity?"
Methods: The electronic search was performed in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases, and articles published until October 2021 were selected.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the roughness, hardness, and color change of pit and fissure sealants of two commercial brands (Fluroshield ™ and Ultraseal XT ™) incorporated with nanostructured silver vanadate nanomaterial decorated with silver nanoparticles (β-AgVO) in concentrations (0% - control, 2.5% and 5%).
Material And Methods: Two commercial brands Fluroshield TM and Ultraseal XT ™ were used to make the samples with dimensions of 6 × 6 × 4 mm.
Spinal epidural empyema (SEE) is a severe infectious disease of the spine which may cause significant morbidity and mortality. Surgical drainage of the empyema is a key feature. However, approach-related morbidity may be significant in very extensive collections.

Sparse data is available to provide optimal care in this scenario and worldwide variability in clinical practice has been documented in recent studies.
Methods: A multidisciplinary consensus panel of physicians selected for their established clinical and scientific expertise in the acute management of tSCI polytrauma patients with different specializations was established.
The armamentarium of surgical treatment options for lumbar spondylolisthesis (LS) includes decompression alone, stabilization with interlaminar devices, or instrumented fusion, through open or minimally invasive approaches. Despite its safe profuse use in distinctive lumbar spine disorders, using percutaneous pedicle screws (PPSs) alone to stabilize LS has never been described before. We performed a retrospective study of prospectively collected data, enrolling 24 patients with LS and scrutinizing clinical and radiological outcomes.

However, minimally invasive surgery is gaining traction as a comparable treatment option because it carries less morbidity and may reduce healthcare costs. This study aimed to compare the clinical and functional outcomes of open versus minimally invasive approaches for patients with ID-EM tumors.

When surgery is indicated, it is commonly addressed through an anterior or posterior cervical approach, such as cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) or laminectomy and fusion (LMF). Besides their own merits, each one has specific approach- or device-related complications, such as dysphagia, significant postoperative pain, wound infection, adjacent segment degeneration (ASD), and pseudoarthrosis.

However, few studies have compared the isolated effect of both techniques on cervical sagittal balance, a surrogate end point for clinical outcomes. We aimed to compare the sagittal balance radiological outcomes of ACCF against LMF.

Miers (Bignoniaceae), a simple high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) method based on mangiferin as an internal standard to quantify verbascoside, and the verbascoside acute oral toxicity and antileishmanial activity. HPLC-high-resolution mass spectrometry-DAD (HPLC-HRMS-DAD) analyses of the crude ethanol leaf extracts (CE-1 and CE-2) revealed that verbascoside was the major constituent in both extracts.

In this context, we report the syntheses of new mononuclear and dinuclear coordination compounds of this element, 1 and 2, derived from the ligand 5-methylsalicylaldehyde 2-furoyl hydrazone (H2L). All three compounds were structurally and spectroscopically characterized, both in the solid state and in solution.

Despite several advances in this interim, sequestrated LDHs over the dorsal aspect of the dura, and high-grade up- or downward disc migration have been a relative limitation of the transforaminal endoscopic technique. The interlaminar window was the next step to deal with such highly migrated LDHs.

This study aimed to describe clinical, biological, and endoscopic remission rates at six months in Brazilian inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients following a proactive TDM algorithm guided by IFX trough levels (ITL) and antibodies to IFX (ATI) levels during induction, at week six. A total of 111 IBD patients were prospectively enrolled, excluding those previously exposed to the drug.

Mature landfill wastewater is a complex effluent due to its low biodegradability and high organic matter content. Currently, mature leachate is treated on-site or transported to wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Many WWTPs do not have the capacity to receive mature leachate due to its high organic load leading to an increase in the cost of transportation to treatment plants more adapted to this type of wastewater and the possibility of environmental impacts.
