Article Synopsis
  • Recurrent pericarditis (RP) is a challenging condition with no established model for predicting patient outcomes, despite prior studies on clinical remission.
  • A risk stratification model was created using data from 365 patients to predict long-term outcomes, focusing on clinical remission defined as stopping all medications with symptoms resolved.
  • The model identified key factors, achieved a C-index of 0.800 for prediction accuracy, and effectively categorized patients into high, intermediate, and low-risk groups, improving individualized treatment decisions for RP.

Pericarditis in pregnancy is uncommon, and there is a paucity of data regarding the safety and efficacy of conventional therapy. We describe a complex case of recurrent pericarditis in the setting of pregnancy and newly diagnosed systemic lupus erythematosus and discuss the challenges in managing this subset of patients.

Parasitic constrictive pericarditis is a rare entity. We present a case of a 75-year-old man who presented with dyspnea, ascites, and pedal edema and was found to have constrictive pericarditis on multimodality imaging with positive serology for . Treatment required ivermectin and radical pericardiectomy with significant clinical improvement.

Objective: Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is an established revascularisation strategy for multivessel and left main coronary artery disease. Although aspirin is routinely recommended for patients with CABG, the optimal antiplatelet regimen after CABG remains unclear. We evaluated the efficacies and risks of different antiplatelet regimens (dual (DAPT) versus single (SAPT), and dual with clopidogrel (DAPT-C) versus dual with ticagrelor or prasugrel (DAPT-T/P)) after CABG.

A previously healthy 15-year-old adolescent female presented with dependent edema, ascites, and dyspnea on exertion. The result of her initial evaluation was consistent with constrictive pericarditis in the setting of local low-grade spindle cell sarcoma. She was unresponsive to traditional medical management and required concurrent mass resection and radical pericardiectomy for definitive treatment.

Introduction: Constrictive pericarditis (CP) can result from uncontrolled inflammation of the pericardium. This can be due to various etiologies. CP can lead to both left- and right-sided heart failure with associated poor quality of life, so early recognition is key.

Schizophrenia is a devastating mental disorder resulting in marked morbidity and mortality despite the optimal use of all currently available interventions. For this reason, the release of lumateperone (Captyla), also known as ITI-007, an orally administered, atypical antipsychotic provided a welcome novel tool for clinicians to utilize precision medicine to tailor an optimal treatment plan to the specific needs of each person with schizophrenia. To generate a foundation for clinicians to assess the risks and benefits of lumateperone in relation to other interventions for schizophrenia, we conducted a search of items for 'ITI-007' and 'lumateperone' on PubMed, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and www.

A low-cost quantitative structured office measurement of movements in the extremities of people with Parkinson's disease [1,2] was performed on people with Parkinson's disease, multiple system atrophy, and age-matched healthy volunteers. Participants underwent twelve videotaped procedures rated by a trained examiner while connected to four accelerometers [1,2] generating a trace of the three location dimensions expressed as spreadsheets [3,4]. The signals of the five repetitive motion items [1,2] underwent processing to fast Fourier [5] and continuous wavelet transforms [6].
