Purpose: Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis is an autoimmune reaction involving Immunoglobulin G antibodies against GluN1 subunit of NMDAR. Absence of biomarkers for early diagnosis and prognosis poses a challenge. Several small case-control studies have emphasized the prospect of quantitative EEG measurements.

Background: Secondary mania refers to a manic episode that arises during a medical illness other than bipolar disorder or in response to a drug or medication. As the psychopathological features of secondary mania resemble those of mania due to bipolar disorder, misdiagnosis is frequent.

Purpose And Basic Procedures: We present the case of a 20-year-old woman who developed a manic episode with psychotic symptoms, in whom polymicrogyria, a malformation of the cortical development with abnormal electroencephalographic activity, was documented.

Short-term VEEG represents an affordable option in limited resources environments. There are few reports on its use. Its diagnostic yield is variable (7-57%) and can be related to the differences in recording time.

Purpose: Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis is produced by an autoimmune reaction against macromolecular structures that form ionotropic receptors for glutamic acid NR2A and NR2B subunits. Other important findings are the multiple clinical and paraclinical manifestations, among which the EEG stands out. We characterized EEG patterns and their association with functional disability and hospitalization time in patients with anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis admitted in our center.

Vasomotor symptoms are one of the main reasons for climateric women to consult a physician. Hormone therapy is the first treatment choice, but it is not indicated to all patients. Veralipride is an option for those who cannot or will not try hormone treatment.

The characterization of a seizure as generalized or focal onset depends on a basic knowledge of the underlying pathophysiology. Recently, an uncommon phenomenon in generalized epilepsy-evolution of seizures from generalized to focal followed by secondary generalization-was reported for the first time. We describe a 15-year-old boy, initially classified as having partial epilepsy, who had a typical absence seizure that became focal with second secondary generalization (double generalization).

Rasmussen's encephalitis is a rare, progressive inflammatory disease that typically affects one cerebral hemisphere and causes intractable partial-onset seizures. Currently, the only effective therapy is hemispherectomy; however, this procedure is associated with irreversible neurological deficits. Novel therapeutic approaches to this condition are therefore necessary.
