In this work, we present the innovative synthesis of salophen (acetaminosalol) derivatives in a solvent-free environment by high-speed ball milling, using a non-conventional activation method, which allowed obtaining compounds in a shorter time and with a better yield. Furthermore, for the first time, the salophen derivatives were deposited as composite films, using a matrix of poly 3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene:polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) polymer. Significant findings include the transformation from the benzoid to the quinoid form of PEDOT post-IPA treatment, as evidenced by Raman spectroscopy.

Hybrid films for applications in organic electronics from NiFeO nanoparticles (NPs) in poly(3,4 ethylene dioxythiophene), poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) were fabricated by the spin-coating technique. The films were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive spectroscopy to subsequently determine their optical parameters. The electronic transport of the hybrid films was determined in bulk heterojunction devices.

The synthesis of four pentacoordinated organotin(IV) complexes prepared in a one-pot reaction from 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde, 2-amino-3-hydroxypyridine and organotin oxides is reported. The complexes were characterized by UV-Vis, IR, MS, H, C and Sn NMR techniques. The compound based on 2,2-diphenyl-6-aza-1,3-dioxa-2-stannanaphtho[1,2-h]pyrido[3,2-d]cyclononene revealed the formation of a monomeric complex with a distorted five-coordinated molecular geometry intermediate between the trigonal bipyramidal and square pyramidal.

The hybrid film of molybdenum oxide (MoO) and poly(3,4-ethylenedyoxithiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) is a promising candidate for use as hole transport layer (HTL) in low-cost devices. A fast, controllable and economic process was used to fabricate high-performance HTLs by adding organotin (IV) semiconductors to the MoO/PEDOT:PSS films. These hybrid films were fabricated by spin-coating and the MoO/PEDOT:PSS-organotin (IV) complex films were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).

This study refers to the doping of organic semiconductors by a simple reaction between copper phthalocyanine and tetrathiafulvalene or tetracyanoquinodimethane. The semiconductor films of copper phthalocyanine, doped with tetrathiafulvalene donor (CuPc-TTF) and tetracyanoquinodimethane acceptor (CuPc-TCNQ) on different substrates, were prepared by vacuum evaporation. The structure and morphology of the semiconductor films were studied with infrared (IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

The present study reports the doping of a semiconducting molecular material through the formation of hydrogen bonds between the macrocycle Cu(II)(TAAB) and the electronic acceptor TCNQ. According to density functional theory (DFT) calculations and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analysis, the doped compound has the shape of a distorted square pyramid, with four nitrogen atoms in the equatorial position and the apical oxygen atom from the water ligands. These water molecules can generate strong hydrogen bonds with TCNQ and the TAAB metallic complex.

Sandwich structures were fabricated by a vacuum deposition method using MPc (M = Cu, Zn), with a Tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) derivative, and Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) and aluminum electrodes. The structure and morphology of the deposited films were studied by IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The absorption spectra of TTF derivative-MPc (M = Cu, Zn) thin films deposited at room temperature were recorded in the spectral range 200-1000 nm.

Semiconducting molecular-material thin-films of tetrabenzo (b,f,j,n) [1,5,9,13] tetraazacyclohexadecine copper(II) and nickel(II) bisanthraflavates have been prepared by using vacuum thermal evaporation on Corning glass substrates and crystalline silicon wafers. The films thus obtained were characterized by infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), atomic force microscopy (AFM), ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy and ellipsometry. IR spectroscopy showed that the molecular-material thin-films exhibit the same intra-molecular bonds as the original compounds, which suggests that the thermal evaporation process does not significantly alter their bonds.
