Pulsed-Current Operation Enhances HO Production on a Boron-Doped Diamond Mesh Anode in a Zero-Gap PEM Electrolyzer.

A niobium (Nb) mesh electrode was coated with boron-doped diamond (BDD) using chemical vapor deposition in a custom-built hot-filament reactor. The BDD-functionalized mesh was tested in a zero-gap electrolysis configuration and evaluated for the anodic formation of HO by selective oxidation of water, including the analysis of the effects on Faradaic efficiency towards HO (FEH2O2) induced by pulsed electrolysis. A low electrolyte flow rate (V⋅) was found to result in a relatively high concentration of HO in single-pass electrolysis experiments.

Enhanced Photocatalytic Paracetamol Degradation by NiCu-Modified TiO Nanotubes: Mechanistic Insights and Performance Evaluation.

Anodic TiO nanotube arrays decorated with Ni, Cu, and NiCu alloy thin films were investigated for the first time for the photocatalytic degradation of paracetamol in water solution under UV irradiation. Metallic co-catalysts were deposited on TiO nanotubes using magnetron sputtering. The influence of the metal layer composition and thickness on the photocatalytic activity was systematically studied.

In Situ X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy Study of the Deactivation Mechanism of a Ni-SrTiO Photocatalyst Slurry Active in Water Splitting.

We used in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) to investigate the composition-performance correlation of Ni-SrTiO photocatalysts active for water splitting. After preparation and exposure to ambient conditions, the Ni particles on SrTiO consist of Ni(0) and Ni(II) phases, with a 4:1 at % ratio, in a metal/oxide core/shell configuration, as confirmed by XPS and TEM-EDX. In situ XAS experiments using an aqueous slurry of the Ni-SrTiO photocatalyst and simultaneous continuous exposure to 365 nm light with a power density of 100 mW cm and the X-rays do not reveal significant changes in oxidation state of the Ni particles.

Background: Despite improved awareness of blunt traumatic hollow viscus and mesenteric injuries (THVMI), the accuracy of contrast-enhanced CT (CECT) varies considerably among studies. This systematic review and meta-analysis of test accuracy aims to explore the diagnostic performance of CECT in detecting THVMI in blunt trauma.

Methods: The study was conducted according to the Cochrane recommendations searching the PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library datasets from 2000 to 8 September 2023 (PROSPERO ID: CRD42023473041).

Non-toxic, abundant, and easy to prepare TiO/Ti electrocatalysts were utilized as the cathode.

Purpose: This study aims to demonstrate a correlation between cervical spine injury and location and severity of facial trauma.

Methods: We did a 10-year retrospective analysis of prospectively collected patients with at least one facial and/or cervical spine injury. We classified facial injuries using the Comprehensive Facial Injury (CFI) score, and stratified patients into mild (CFI < 4), moderate (4 ≤ CFI < 10) and severe facial trauma (CFI ≥ 10).

Here, we describe the self-assembling and self-activating nature of a photocatalytic system that forms under illumination of reduced anatase TiO nanoparticles in an aqueous Ni solution. UV illumination creates a Ni/TiO/Ti photocatalyst that self-activates and, over time, produces H at a higher rate.
