Purpose: Given the occurrence of comorbidities in geriatric patients, the postoperative period of hip fractures may progress with high morbidity and mortality. Recently, several inflammatory markers have been used to evaluate the treatment course. Herein, we prospectively followed-up and examined the relationship between preoperative fibrinogen/albumin ratio(FAR) and morbidity/mortality in elderly patients with hip fracture.

Initially, NMC622@TiO was synthesized using a wet-chemical method with titanium(IV) ethoxide as the Ti source. Advanced structural investigations confirmed the successful formation of a core@shell structure with negligible cation mixing (Li/Ni) at the NMC622 surface, contributing to enhanced electrochemical performance.

Fabry disease (FD) is associated with inflammation, proteinuria, and chronic kidney disease. Tumor necrosis factor-like weak inducer of apoptosis (TWEAK) plays an important role in inflammation in diabetic nephropathy and lupus nephritis. Since there is a close relationship linking serum TWEAK (sTWEAK), inflammation, and carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) in various kidney diseases, we aimed to determine the relationship between sTWEAK levels and CIMT in subjects with and without proteinuria in a cross-sectional study involving 15 FD patients (seven females, eight males) and seven healthy controls (four females, three males).

The respiratory setup of the mechanical ventilator during RIRS might affect renal mobility. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of high ventilation (HV) and standard ventilation (SV) modes on renal mobility during RIRS.

Lower extremity peripheral artery disease (PAD) affects 3%-10% of the Western population and, if left untreated, can lead to devastating outcomes with both an increased risk of morbidity and mortality. Interestingly, the association between obesity and PAD remains debatable.

Methods: The retrospective study was conducted from October to November 2020 at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, Turkey, and comprised all radical and partial nephrectomy cases performed by a single surgeon in a single clinic between January 2014 and August 2020. Pre-operative images and post-operative pathology were reviewed by the same clinician.
Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) is a severe demyelinating disease of the central nervous system caused by reactivation of the polyomavirus JC (JCV). Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is one of the leading causes of PML which has high morbidity and mortality due to the lack of a proven standard treatment. We found clinical and radiological improvement with the combination of high-dose methylprednisolone, mirtazapine, mefloquine, and IVIG in our patient who presented with neurological symptoms and had diagnosed concurrent acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and PML.

We asked whether L2 proficiency affects lexical properties, including imageability and concreteness ratings of 600 Turkish words selected from the Word Frequency Dictionary of Written Turkish. Seventy-two participants (L1-Turkish - L2-English) provided ratings of concreteness and imageability for 600 words on a 7-point scale.

Case: We report a 25-year-old woman, who described numbness in her left upper extremity.
Objective: To investigate the awareness about testicular cancer and testicular self examination among medical students and the community.
Methods: The cross-sectional comparative study was conducted from January to April 2019 at Tekirdag, Turkey, and comprised young male medical students aged 18-26 years and an age-matched control group of male high school graduates. Data was collected using face-to-face survey through a 15-question survey form.
Objectives: To evaluate the changes of peak systolic velocity(PSV), end-diastolic velocity(EDV), and resistive index(RI) of renal and arcuate arteries at the ipsilateral and contralateral kidneys during the retrograde intrarenal surgery.
Methods: The patients who had RIRS for the treatment of renal stones were prospectively included in the study. An experienced radiologist performed doppler ultrasonography of the ipsilateral and contralateral kidney before the surgery just after the anesthesia and at the end of the surgery before stenting.

We studied the effect of di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) on rat hair deposition of Iron (Fe), Copper (Cu), Manganese (Mn), and Zinc (Zn). Four groups, each of eight of female Wistar rats weighing 250-300 g, were randomly distributed to (1) control (corn oil-based diet), (2) DEHP 20 (20 mg DEHP per kg body weight (bw), (3) DEHP 100 (100mg DEHP kg/bw, and (4) DEHP 500 (500 mg DEHP kg/bw). The diets were fed daily for 14 days by gastric gavage before the rats were sacrificed.

Hemophagocytic syndrome (HS) is a syndromic complex that is categorized in the group of histiocytic disorders associated with macrophages. A 39-year-old male patient was admitted to the outpatient clinic with complaint of left flank pain. A 1 cm kidney stone was found in the upper pole of left kidney at radiologic imaging.

The radial artery (RA) is increasingly used as an alternative to the FA for secondary access in TAVI. Limited data exist on the outcomes of RA secondary access versus FA secondary access.

As a result, differences in outcomes for males and females are not possible to be determined in subanalyses. Against a backdrop of troubling trends in cardiovascular outcomes for females, we provide a narrative review on the differences in outcomes observed in females undergoing device evaluations in multiple fields of cardiovascular medicine, including coronary revascularization, structural heart disease, and heart failure.

Studies have shown either anti- or proinflammatory effects of HDL in macrophages, and there is no consensus on the underlying mechanisms. Here, we interrogate the effects of HDL on inflammatory gene expression in macrophages.

However, these batteries have short cycle life and extensive research activities on these batteries are required to understand the mechanism of such drawbacks. In this report, we investigate the capacity fading mechanism of NaMnOvia ex situ X-ray diffraction, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and magnetization measurements.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to discover whether proton-MR-spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) aids in the diagnosis of temporal lobe epilepsy in conjunction with classical electroencephalography (EEG) findings.
Purpose: Our aim was to evaluate the efficacy of Proton-MR Spectroscopy for the differentiation of cranial masses from non-neoplastic brain disorders.
Material And Method: 33 patients with intracranial mass lesions, 29 patients with non-neoplastic brain lesions: Ischemic-demyelinating-metabolic-benign cystic mass group; As a whole 62 patients: 30 males and 32 females were included in this study.
Results: In brain tumours, average Cho/NAA ratio 2.
Purpose: To assess the most effective magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequence for the visualization of the 9th, 10th, and 11th cranial nerves (glossopharyngeal, vagus, and accessory nerves, respectively) in their intraforaminal/canalicular courses.
Materials And Methods: Balanced fast-field echo (b-FFE), 3D-T2W DRIVE, T2W 2D TSE and post-contrast T1W MRI sequences were all applied and we tried to get the best sequence for the exact assessment of the 9th, 10th, and 11th cranial nerves. Six hundred nerves of 100 patients without symptoms of neurovascular compression were examined using the above sequences.
