Importance: In 2022, the US House of Representatives passed a bipartisan resolution (House of Representatives Resolution 1118 at the 117th Congress [2021-2022]) calling for meaningful nutrition education for medical trainees. This was prompted by increasing health care spending attributed to the growing prevalence of nutrition-related diseases and the substantial federal funding via Medicare that supports graduate medical education. In March 2023, medical education professional organizations agreed to identify nutrition competencies for medical education.

However, the experiences of people with intellectual disability, who have high healthcare utilization couple with poorer outcomes, are often omitted from system-wide PREMs and service-wide PREMs data. The use of PREMs instruments for data collection among people with intellectual disability has not been explored.

We aimed to determine whether OB/GYN residency candidates who desire abortion training apply to programs in states where abortion is restricted/banned.
Study Design: In 2023, we conducted an anonymous electronic survey of residency interviewees at three large academic OB/GYN programs about the importance of various program characteristics in their selection process.
Introduction There is no clear guidance for the optimal setting for dilation and curettage (D&C) for the management of first-trimester pregnancy failure. Identifying patients at risk of clinically significant blood loss at the time of D&C may inform a provider's decision regarding the setting for the procedure. We aimed to identify risk factors predictive for blood loss of 200mL or greater at the time of D&C.

Current evidence indicates that ethnically diverse communities frequently experience poorer care quality and outcomes, with PREMs data required from this population to direct service improvement efforts. This review synthesises evidence of the methods and approaches used to promote participation in PREMs among ethnically diverse populations.

Background & Aims: Epithelial disruption in eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) encompasses both impaired differentiation and diminished barrier integrity. We have shown that lysyl oxidase (LOX), a collagen cross-linking enzyme, is up-regulated in the esophageal epithelium in EoE. However, the functional roles of LOX in the esophageal epithelium remains unknown.

We compared eating behaviors in pediatric patients with EoE with healthy controls and assessed the degree of correlation with symptomatology, endoscopic and histologic findings, and esophageal distensibility.
Methods: We conducted a prospective, observational study where subjects consumed 4 food textures (puree, soft solid, chewable, and hard solid) and were scored for eating behaviors including number of chews per bite, sips of fluid per food, and consumption time.
Objectives: This study examined the association between voice disorders and personality by comparing a heterogenic group of dysphonic patients to non-dysphonic speakers using the NEO-FFI big-five personality inventory.
Methods: A group of 100 dysphonic patients diagnosed with 24 different pathologies was compared to 149 non-dysphonic speakers. Inter-group differences on the five NEO-FFI scales were evaluated using three analysis approaches, a general comparison between the dysphonic and non-dysphonic groups and arranging pathologies using a categorical and a continuous approach.
Objectives: This study developed and validated the children's voice questionnaire (CVQ), a new self-administered instrument for children, and evaluated its internal consistency and reliability.
Study Design: Observational, prospective, cross-sectional study.
Methods: The initial preparation of the CVQ was conducted in four steps.
Cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP), or pregnancies with implantation in a prior cesarean section scar, are rare but may be becoming more common with an increase in cesarean section deliveries. History of prior CSP may also increase the risk for recurrent CSP. Several treatment options and combinations of treatment options for CSP have been described in the literature.

Objective The study aims to describe the distribution of patient-reported race or ethnicity for safety events at a single safety net teaching hospital. We hypothesized that the observed versus expected case distribution for each racial or ethnic group would be similar, signifying proportional representation in the PSQI reporting and review process.

Methods This is a retrospective case series from May 2016 to June 2018 of patients who underwent cryotherapy for high-grade dysplasia at a single academic safety-net hospital. Patient demographics and clinical information were abstracted from the electronic medical record.

Background: COPD is a progressive inflammatory disease of the lungs, characterized by acute exacerbations that may lead to increased mortality. Short courses of systemic corticosteroids (SCS) are recommended to reduce recovery time from exacerbations, although SCS use has been associated with increased risk of adverse events.
Spontaneous bilateral ectopic pregnancies are rare. In the majority of case reports, treatments prescribed were methotrexate, bilateral salpingectomy, or salpingectomy/salpingostomy. A 31-year-old gravida 3 para 0 at our institution underwent diagnostic laparoscopy due to ruptured ectopic pregnancy, and based on visual inspection, had a bilateral ectopic pregnancy.

As one of the social determinants of health, food insecurity significantly impacts overall health across the life course. Guided by the Getting to Equity Framework, this qualitative community-engaged participatory project examines the impact of the pandemic on food security among adults in Washington, DC.

We sought to evaluate discrepancies in aortic valve mean gradients with balloon-expandable and self-expanding TAVI.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 507 patients that underwent TAVI and compared mean gradients by catheterization to transthoracic Doppler echocardiography.
Preeclampsia (PE), an inflammatory state during pregnancy, is a significant cause of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Adverse outcomes associated with PE include hypertension, proteinuria, uterine/placental abnormalities, fetal growth restriction, and pre-term birth. Women with obesity have an increased risk of developing PE likely due to impaired placental development from altered metabolic homeostasis.

Successful and timely resolution of the gestation, while minimizing unscheduled interventions, are important priorities.
Objective: To determine if active management is more effective in achieving pregnancy resolution than expectant management and whether the use of empirical methotrexate is noninferior to uterine evacuation followed by methotrexate if needed.
Background: Gut microbiomes, such as the rumen, greatly influence host nutrition due to their feed energy-harvesting capacity. We investigated temporal ecological interactions facilitating energy harvesting at the fresh perennial ryegrass (PRG)-biofilm interface in the rumen using an in sacco approach and prokaryotic metatranscriptomic profiling.
Results: Network analysis identified two distinct sub-microbiomes primarily representing primary (≤ 4 h) and secondary (≥ 4 h) colonisation phases and the most transcriptionally active bacterial families (i.
