Introduction: Dentists career satisfaction can significantly affect their quality of life and the quality of healthcare services provided to their patients. The aim of this 10-year repeated cross-sectional study is to assess career satisfaction among dentists and investigate its influencing factors.

Methods: Participants were distinct cohorts of dentists (n = 115) who graduated from King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, in 2013, surveyed at 2 time points: upon graduation and 10 years later (2023).

Identifying Factors Contributing to Dropouts in a Pilot Telenutrition Weight-Loss Program: A Qualitative Study.

Background: Telehealth programs exhibit strong potential to improve health measures and quality of life among obese and overweight individuals for whom medical nutritional therapy remains a challenge due to poor adherence and dietary compliance. Supporting weight-management programs with dietary interventions or "telenutrition" and integrating telemonitoring and/or telehealth coaching have had a significant positive impact on weight-loss patients achieving their goals in long-term interventions.

Methods: The aim of the current study was to identify the factors leading patients to drop out of a telenutrition weight-loss program, including weekly telemonitoring (total of 36 weeks) and monthly telehealth coaching (total of 6 months).

Antimicrobial Peptides: The Game-Changer in the Epic Battle Against Multidrug-Resistant Bacteria.

The rapid progress of antibiotic resistance among bacteria has prompted serious medical concerns regarding how to manage multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacterial infections. One emerging strategy to combat antibiotic resistance is the use of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), which are amino acid chains that act as broad-spectrum antimicrobial molecules and are essential parts of the innate immune system in mammals, fungi, and plants. AMPs have unique antibacterial mechanisms that offer benefits over conventional antibiotics in combating drug-resistant bacterial infections.

Development of paroxetine loaded nanotransferosomal gel for intranasal delivery with enhanced antidepressant activity in rats.

The aim of this study was to develop paroxetine (PXT) loaded nanotransferosomal gel (PXT-NTFG) for intranasal brain delivery. The process involved fabricating PXT-NTFs (paroxetine-loaded nanotransferosomes) through a thin film hydration method and optimizing them based on parameters such as particle size (PS), zeta potential (ZP), polydispersity index (PDI), and entrapment efficiency (EE). The optimized PXT-NTFs exhibited uniform morphology with a PS of 158.

Molecular modelling and antimicrobial activity of newly synthesized benzothiazolo[3,2-]pyrimidine clubbed thiazole derivatives.

A series of benzothiazolopyrimidine-thiazole conjugates , , and were produced through the reactions of 8-acetylbenzothiazolopyrimidine-thiosemicarbazone compound with chloroacetone, (un)substituted phenacyl chlorides, and ethyl chloroacetate, respectively. Based on DFT study, the synthesized conjugates had a twisted shape, except for the parent benzothiazolopyrimidine and its thiosemicarbazone compound , which were flat. The study of FMO's also showed that the substituted thiazole derivatives and have equivalent configurations of HOMO and LUMO, as well as exhibiting the least FMO's gap (ΔE).

This study aimed to determine the total polyphenol intake from fruits and vegetables (FV) in patients at King of Abdulaziz University Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and its association with vascular risk biomarkers.

Several studies have shown their defiency and inaccuracy sometimes, and some methods have been proposed to make them more objective. This study aimed to evaluate the completeness of thyroidectomy operative notes in a tertiary center and to assess the adequacy of video documentation by comparing it to the corresponding operative notes.

Abdominal Obesity-Metabolic Syndrome 3 Misclassified as Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.

Age is no longer the most important differentiating feature between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as obesity and metabolic syndrome are on the rise in the pediatric population. Here we present a case of a 30-year-old male individual initially diagnosed with uncontrolled type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) since the age of 15, and treatment with high insulin doses has been unsuccessful. He was later identified as having abdominal obesity-metabolic syndrome 3 (AOMS3) based on strong family history and the presence of insulin resistance features.

Formulation and statistical optimization of letrozole loaded nanotransferosomal gel for tumor targeting.

Letrozole (LTZ) is used as first-line treatment for hormone-positive breast cancer (BC) in postmenopausal women. However, its poor aqueous solubility and permeability have reduced its clinical efficacy. Herein, we developed LTZ-nanotransferosomes (LTZ-NT) to address above mentioned issues.

COVID-19 infections among health care workers at a university hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Background: The objective of this study was to describe the prevalence, characteristics, and risk factors of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) infection among health care workers (HCWs) at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Methods: A prospective cross-sectional study of HCWs confirmed to have COVID-19 infection from March 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022.

Results: A total of 746 HCWs were diagnosed with COVID-19.

Association between polycystic ovary syndrome and the risk of malignant gynecologic cancers (ovarian, endometrial, and cervical): A population-based study from the U.S.A. National Inpatient Sample 2016-2019.

Objective: This study aimed to systematically examine the relationship between polycystic ovary syndrome and ovarian, endometrial, and cervical cancers using the National Inpatient Sample (NIS) database.

Methods: We utilized the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) system to identify relevant codes from the NIS database (2016-2019). Univariate and multivariable regression analyses (adjusted age, race, hospital region, hospital teaching status, income Zip score, smoking, alcohol use, and hormonal replacement therapy) were conducted to evaluate association between PCOS and gynecologic cancers.

However, the design and development of bond-forming reaction catalysts based on copper NCs are still in their early stages. Herein, we report the synthesis of an atomically precise copper nanocluster with a planar core and unique shell, [Cu(TBBT)(TPP)(CHN)H] () (TBBT: 4--butylbenzenethiol; TPP: triphenylphosphine), in high yield via a one-pot reduction method.

Language and Communication Barriers in Emergency Departments in Makkah: Physicians' Perspective.

Background Communication is essential in the medical sector, particularly in the emergency departments (ED), to provide appropriate patient care. Lack of patient history and large patient numbers, cultural variations, inadequate health literacy, and language difficulties can impact effective communication. Aim This study aims to examine language and communication barriers experienced by ED physicians in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, as well as to determine the effect of language barriers on patient care and explore possible methods to deal with language and communication barriers.

Background: Mangrove sediment microbes are increasingly attracting scientific attention due to their demonstrated capacity for diverse bioremediation activities, encompassing a wide range of environmental contaminants.

Materials And Methods: The microbial communities of five Avicennia marina mangrove sediment samples collected from Al Rayyis White Head, Red Sea (KSA), were characterized using Illumina amplicon sequencing of the 16S rRNA genes.

Results: Our study investigated the microbial composition and potential for organohalide bioremediation in five mangrove sediments from the Red Sea.

Selective Mono-Defluorinative Cross-Coupling of Trifluoromethyl arenes via Multiphoton Photoredox Catalysis.

A new cross-coupling of trifluoromethyl arenes has been realized via multiphoton photoredox catalysis. Trifluoromethyl arenes were demonstrated to undergo selective mono-defluorinative alkylation under mild reaction conditions providing access to a series of valuable α,α-difluorobenzylic compounds. The reaction shows broad substrate scope and general functional group tolerance.

Derivative spectroscopy and wavelet transform as green spectrophotometric methods for abacavir and lamivudine measurement.

Herein, two different sustainable and green signal processing spectrophotometric approaches, namely, derivative spectroscopy and wavelet transform, have been utilized for effective measurement of the antiretroviral therapy abacavir and lamivudine in their pharmaceutical formulations. These methods were used to enhance the spectral data and differentiate between the absorption bands of abacavir and lamivudine in order to accurately measure their concentrations. For determining abacavir and lamivudine, the first derivative spectrophotometric method has been applied to the zero-order and ratio spectra of both drugs.
