Scorpions are a group of arthropods known to be highly toxic to humans. We report the case of a previously healthy 61-year-old male who sustained a sting from an Androctonus crassicauda scorpion to his right eye. The patient was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) in a comatose state immediately after the sting.

Salinity stress poses a substantial challenge to barley production worldwide, adversely affecting crop yield, quality, and agricultural sustainability. To address this, the present study utilized a genome-wide association san (GWAS) to identify genetic associations underlying intergenerational and transgenerational stress memory in response to salinity in a diverse panel of 138 barley accessions.

This article aims to investigate the complications of AGV in Jordanian glaucoma patients and to justify the main risk factors.
Methods: Retrospectively, we report 87 eyes of 83 patients who underwent AGV implantation for different indications.
Aims: This aims to assess the efficacy of 2', 3, 3, 5'-Tetramethyl-4'-nitro-2'H-1, 3'-bipyrazole (TMNB), a novel compound, in colitis treatment.
Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract with limited effective treatments available. The exploration of new therapeutic agents is critical for advancing treatment options.
Aim: This study explored Panduratin A's protective effects against DSS-induced colitis in mice, focusing on reducing inflammation and oxidative stress in the colon.
Methods: Mice were treated with dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) and Panduratin A (3, 6, 18 mg/kg), and changes in body weight, colon length, Disease Activity Index (DAI), histopathology, inflammation markers including tumor necrosis factor- α (TNF-α), Interleukin-1 β (IL-1β), Myeloperoxidase (MPO), and oxidative stress, Malondialdehyde (MDA) were evaluated.
Results: Panduratin A significantly reversed DSS-induced symptoms, including body weight loss, colonic length shortening, and DAI increase, while reducing histopathological damage.
Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic utility of electroencephalography (EEG) and somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEP) as modalities of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) in predicting postoperative delirium (POD) in patients who underwent carotid endarterectomy (CEA) surgery.
Methods: A total cohort of 425 patients was included in this study. Medical record data were reviewed retrospectively and their documented significant IONM data were analyzed and integrated into the study for each patient.

The escalating global burden of cardiovascular diseases is a growing concern. Numerous research studies have established that plant-derived polyphenols, including α-pinene-a monocyclic monoterpene found in various plant essential oils-have significant effects on key cardiovascular mechanisms. These effects are mediated through their influence on antioxidant systems, cellular signaling pathways, and gene transcription processes.

Methods: In this retrospective analysis of a prospectively maintained registry of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients undergoing MT at two CSCs between January 2021 and October 2023, we included consecutive AIS patients presenting directly to the CSC with pre-arrival notifications via emergency medical services (EMS) and who underwent emergent MT. We excluded patients with known confounders to DTP and divided this cohort into two groups: DTP ≤75 min and >75 min.
Salinity is one of the major environmental factor that can greatly impact the growth, development, and productivity of barley. Our study aims to detect the natural phenotypic variation of morphological and physiological traits under both salinity and potassium nanoparticles (n-K) treatment. In addition to understanding the genetic basis of salt tolerance in barley is a critical aspect of plant breeding for stress resilience.

The aim of this study is to investigate the pain-relieving attributes of isorhamnetin in murine models through both formalin-induced pain and diabetic neuropathy scenarios.
Materials And Methods: To achieve our objective, isorhamnetin was orally administered to mice at varying dosage levels (10 to 100 mg/kg).
: Although physical health is always studied for women with diabetes, the mental health aspect is generally overlooked for this chronic disease. The present study aimed to examine the prevalence of psychosomatic symptoms, namely, fibromyalgia syndrome, depression, anxiety, and insomnia, and how these symptoms related to the medications used in a cohort of women diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (DM) in Jordan. : This cross-sectional study recruited women diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and validated scales (PSRS, PHQ-9, GAD-7, and ISI-A) for fibromyalgia syndrome, depression, anxiety, and insomnia were used.

Mice with induced colitis received DMPNP (50, 100, 150 mg/kg) or sulfasalazine (SUL), evaluated via tissue assessment, Disease Activity Index (DAI), myeloperoxidase (MPO), nitric oxide (NO) levels and cytokine analysis. DMPNP significantly reduced colitis symptoms, inflammation and oxidative stress at higher doses, with marked improvements in DAI, MPO, NO and cytokines, comparable to SUL results.

This study aims to evaluate the accuracy and reproducibility of ChatGPT responses to patients-based questions in ophthalmology. We collected 150 questions from the "Ask an ophthalmologist" page of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, which were reviewed and refined by two ophthalmologists for their eligibility.

The present study sought to examine the prevalence and correlates of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms among PwMS in Jordan during the Gaza war outbreak.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study involving 171 patients (PwMS) out of 372 patients approached (46% response rate) who were being seen in the MS unit at Al Bashir Hospital, Ammann, Jordan.
Background: Cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) can lead to significant morbidity and are particularly challenging to manage in resource-limited settings where endovascular treatment modalities are unaffordable for most patients.
Objective: To describe the first case series of AVM from Iraq with an analysis of the related clinicoradiologic characteristics, operative features, and outcomes.
Methods: A single-center database from October 2018 to December 2022 was reviewed to analyze the characteristics of cerebral AVMs who underwent surgical treatment in Baghdad, Iraq.
Dysmenorrhea, the most common gynecological pain syndrome reported in women, is understudied in refugee communities. In addition, the association between dysmenorrhea self-medication and mental health symptoms in this population is poorly understood. We aimed to examine whether the use of dysmenorrhea analgesic self-medications and other clinical factors are associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety and insomnia severity in female war refugees residing in Zaatari Camp.
