Research Design And Methods: This was a retrospective cross-sectional study of adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Data were extracted from the electronic health record (EHR) database for the period from 1st of January to 31st of December 2016.

Enamel demineralization around metal and ceramic brackets: an in vitro study.

Aim: To evaluate the degree of enamel demineralization of teeth bonded with ceramic and metal brackets.

Materials And Methods: In this cross-sectional experimental in vitro study, 60 extracted human premolar teeth were selected according to the experimental criteria. They were divided into three groups; 20 premolar teeth in each group.

A novel perspective for predicting gingival biotype via dentopapillary measurements on study models in the Saudi population: Cross-sectional study.

Background/purpose: Gingival biotype (GB) is a crucial factor in predicting the success of soft tissue periodontal and peri-implant surgical interventions. Consequently, contemplating noninvasive, less time-consuming procedure to anticipate it has become a part and parcel of the current practice. This article presents a novel algorithm to detect GB in the Saudi population based on the dentopapillary measurements taken on laboratory models.

Changes in the mandibular dental arch during the late mixed dentition stage: Experimental study.

Objective: To determine the dimensional changes in the mandibular arch of untreated subjects during the late mixed dentition stage.

Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted over three years starting March 2013 at the College of Dentistry, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and comprised consecutive models taken annually of subjects seeking dental treatment. They were aged 9 years at baseline and dimensional changes were calculated at 9, 10 and 11 years of age.

Background: Headache is among the commonest complaints in medical students; it could be due to many physical or psychological stressors. It has two main types: primary (including tension-type, migraine, and cluster) and secondary. The aim of this study is to assess the prevalence of headache among male and female medical students.

Dento-skeletal characteristics of cleft patients with missing teeth.

Objective: The objective of this study was to compare the cephalometric skeletal and dental characteristics of unilateral complete cleft lip and palate (UCCLP) subjects with and without missing teeth.

Design: A retrospective records review was conducted for patients who are being treated at the cleft lip and palate (CLP) clinics in the College of Dentistry.

Methods: Ninety-six consecutive records of non-syndromic UCCLP subjects were recruited (33 subjects without missing teeth, 50 subjects with only one missing tooth, and 13 subjects with two or more missing teeth).

Efficacy of Yttrium (III) Fluoride Nanoparticles in Orthodontic Bonding.

Our study evaluated the adhesion strength and antibacterial effect of a conventional orthodontic composite resin blended with yttrium fluoride (YF₃) nanoparticles. Yttrium fluoride nanoparticles (NP) were added to the conventional orthodontic composite resin (Transbond XT) at concentrations of 1%, 2%, and 3% (w/w), and the blended composite resins were labeled as NP1, NP2, and NP3, respectively. A total of 60 extracted human premolars was randomly allocated to four groups of 15 samples ( = 15).

The characteristics of dental occlusion in patients with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in Saudi Arabia.

Objectives: To evaluate characteristics of dental occlusion among non-obese Saudi adult patients suffering from moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea(OSA).

Methods: Following ethical approval, a cross-sectional study was conducted at Sleep Disorders Center, King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, between January and March 2017. Non-obese adult Saudi patients with moderate/severe OSA (apnea-hypopnea index more than 15) and without history of malocclusion or edentulism were included with an estimated sample size of 50.

Comparison of two analgesics used for pain relief after placement of orthodontic separators.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the possible effect of two analgesics: paracetamol (500 mg) and ibuprofen (400 mg) on pain and routine life of the patients after placement of orthodontic separators.

Methodology: Ninety patients aged 11-41 years undergoing fixed comprehensive orthodontic treatment requiring placement of different orthodontic separators participated in the study. Following placement of separators, the participants were randomly assigned to 1 of 3 groups: paracetamol (500 mg) given every 6 h for 3 days, ibuprofen (400 mg) given every 8 h for 2 days and control group in which no analgesic was given.

Efficient synthesis of phenanthridin-6(5)-one derivatives - in a four-component reaction of aldehyde hydrazone, aromatic aldehydes and malononitrile in Q-Tubes is reported. The results showed that the methodology has the advantage of being a one-pot synthesis of tricyclic systems in good yields. Potential routes leading to formation of compounds are discussed.

Prosthodontic rehabilitation with monolithic, multichromatic, CAD-CAM complete overdentures in an adolescent patient with ectodermal dysplasia: A clinical report.

Ectodermal dysplasia is a rare, hereditary, congenital disease that affects the normal development of certain tissues and structures of ectodermal origin. The disease is manifested to different degrees of severity and may involve the nose, eyes, hair, nails, sweat glands, and enamel. This report describes a 14-year-old boy with ectodermal dysplasia, rehabilitated with monolithic, multichromatic maxillary and mandibular computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) acrylic resin complete overdentures.

Evaluation of two flap designs on the mandibular second molar after third molar extractions.

Background: The extraction of third molars is associated with some clinical outcomes and periodontal problems. It is imperative to note that the type of incision used in the surgery for the removal of the impacted third molar is critical. The design of the flap influences the healing of the surgically created defect and damage to the distal periodontal area of the adjacent second molar.
