Recognition and segmentation of brain tumours (BT) using MR images are valuable and tedious processes in the healthcare industry. Earlier diagnosis and localization of BT provide timely options to select effective treatment plans for the doctors and can save lives. BT segmentation from Magnetic Resonance Images (MRI) is considered a big challenge owing to the difficulty of BT tissues, and segmenting them from the healthier tissue is challenging when manual segmentation is done through radiologists.

Article Synopsis
  • Drug resistance (DR) to antituberculosis drugs is increasingly problematic in controlling tuberculosis (TB) globally, particularly in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, where TB is a significant public health concern.
  • This systematic review analyzed peer-reviewed articles published since 2014 to assess the prevalence and risk factors of drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) in the GCC, identifying isoniazid monoresistance as the most common form and highlighting factors such as diabetes, previous TB treatment, and expatriate status as significant risks.
  • The review stresses the need for collaboration among stakeholders to develop evidence-based interventions and highlights the importance of ongoing research and surveillance to manage and mitigate the impact of DR-TB on public health in the

Introduction: Patients with myasthenia gravis (MG) undergoing immunomodulating therapies are at an increased risk of serious infections. However, the risk of developing self-limited infections, particularly upper respiratory tract infections (URTI), remains unclear. This study aimed to determine the frequency of URTI among patients with MG compared to the general population and to identify potential predisposing factors.

Transplacental transmission of spirochetes from an infected mother to the fetus during pregnancy results in the infectious condition known as congenital syphilis (CS). Once a forgotten disease, CS has now re-emerged. We report the clinical case of an early CS in a neonate girl presented with severe congenital pneumonia (pneumonia alba) requiring intubation, along with skin lesions that were visible from birth on the palms and soles of the feet.

The Suspended Thermoreflectance (STR) technique is described in this paper. This optoelectronic measurement tool performs thermal characterization of freestanding micro-/nanoscale materials. STR performs thermal mapping at the submicron level and produces unconstrained thermal conductivity unlike other optical measurement techniques where independent conductivity measurement is not possible due to their reliance on heat capacity.

Electrocardiography (ECG) is the most non-invasive diagnostic tool for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Automatic analysis of ECG signals assists in accurately and rapidly detecting life-threatening arrhythmias like atrioventricular blockage, atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, etc. The ECG recognition models need to utilize algorithms to detect various kinds of waveforms in the ECG and identify complicated relationships over time.

Investigating novel compounds has become necessary due to the need for sophisticated materials in optoelectronic devices and spintronics. Because of their unique properties, magnesium-based spinels MgSm2X4 (X = S and Se) are very promising for these applications. We used the spin-polarized PBEsol for structural properties and the PBEsol functional for mechanical behavior, both using the WIEN2k code.

Ferro hydrophobic particles possess essential properties for controlling the behavior of suspended substances in water. By adjusting the concentration of these particles, the magnetic force within the fluid carrier can be modified, leading to the emergence of distinct flow structures and patterns on the water's surface. This study examines the cloaking phenomenon exhibited by different ferroparticle conditions, employing both experimental and numerical approaches.
