In the United States, fresh-frozen plasma (FFP) is commonly used for urgent reversal of warfarin; however, dosage recommendations are difficult to find. If validated, a proposed method that uses a nonlinear relationship between international normalized ratio (INR) and clotting factor activity (CFa) would be useful. This study retrospectively evaluated a proposed equation with adult medical inpatients who received FFP for warfarin reversal.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Alphi E P Elackattu"

  • - Alphi E P Elackattu's recent research focuses on improving clinical practices related to the management of anticoagulated patients, particularly in the context of fresh-frozen plasma (FFP) administration for warfarin reversal.
  • - The 2008 study titled "Retrospective evaluation of a method to predict fresh-frozen plasma dosage in anticoagulated patients" examines a novel equation to predict FFP dosage based on the nonlinear relationship between international normalized ratio (INR) and clotting factor activity (CFa).
  • - Findings from the study suggest that the proposed method could enhance dosage recommendations and therapeutic outcomes for patients requiring urgent FFP, pending further validation of the equation used.
