Aim: There is an extensive literature on the mechanical bowel preparation by an enema in colorectal, abdominal, and gynecologic surgeries that provide evidence against the use of enema. There are, however, few studies investigating the effect of enema prior to elective Cesarean sections. The aim of this study is to investigate whether preoperative enema facilitates the return of gastrointestinal activity in pregnant women undergoing elective Cesarean section.

We aimed to determine the effectiveness of a one-day course on laparoscopic suturing skills development by performing a prospective study with obstetrics and gynaecology specialists. The course consisted of a theoretical portion describing the suturing technique basics and a practical portion consisting of box trainer suturing. Before and after the course, each trainee was given 10 min to introduce the suture material into the abdomen, properly position the needle using a needle holder, pass the suture through premarked points on the silicone pads and tie an intracorporeal knot.

To compare the vaginal cuff closure times of a newly developed Turkish-made laparoscopic needle holder (TMLNH) and a Yoon Soon (YS) extracorporeal knot tying technique in the closure of the vaginal cuff during single-port laparoscopic hysterectomy. We retrospectively reviewed a total of 60 consecutive patients who underwent single-port laparoscopic hysterectomy using a TMLNH ( = 30) or a YS extracorporeal knot tying technique ( = 30). The patients' demographic data, operative results, and complications were analyzed.

Objective: To investigate differences in perioperative complications and short-term outcomes of patients who underwent abdominal sacrocolpopexy / sacrohysteropexy, laparoscopic sa-crocolpopexy / sacrohysteropexy, or laparoscopic pectopexy due to apical prolapse.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed on 110 patients who underwent apical prolapse surgery between January 1, 2011, and July 31, 2017. Only symp-tomatic uterine or vaginal vault prolapse patients with stage 2-4, according to the pelvic organ prolapse quantification system, were included.

Background/aim: This study aimed to investigate differences in perioperative complications and short-term outcomes of patients who underwent abdominal sacrocolpopexy/sacrohysteropexy, laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy/sacrohysteropexy, sacrospinous ligament fixation (SSLF), and iliococcygeus fixation due to apical prolapse. Materials and methods: The present retrospective cohort study included 145 patients who underwent apical prolapse surgery performed by the same surgeons between 1/1/2011 and 30/6/2017. There were 68 abdominal sacrocolpopexies (44 sacrocolpopexies and 24 sacrohysteropexies), 13 laparoscopic sacrocolpopexies (10 sacrocolpopexies and 3 sacrohysteropexies), 57 SSLFs, and 7 iliococcygeus fixations.

The aim of this study was to determine the potential effect of fetal sex on placental delivery times. This was a prospective observational study of term, singleton, and primiparous pregnant women who underwent vaginal delivery and subsequently delivered a phenotypically normal live infant. Women with labor or pregnancy complications and comorbid diseases were excluded.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare obstetric outcomes between women with four or more previous cesarean sections and those with two or three.
  • A total of 1318 women were reviewed, with 244 in the multiple repeat cesarean section group and 1074 in the control group.
  • Results showed higher rates of adhesion, blood transfusion, operation time, and hospital stay for the multiple repeat cesarean section group, but no significant difference in serious morbidity.

Background: To evaluate vaginal cuff closure times of a single-port laparoscopic hysterectomy using a newly developed Turkish-made laparoscopic needle holder (TMLNH) with a single-port laparoscopic hysterectomy using a laparoscopic needle holder with pistol handle (LNHPH).

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 68 patients who underwent single-port laparoscopic hysterectomy using a TMLNH (n = 38) or a LNHPH (n = 30). Patients' age, parity, body mass index, mean operating time, mean vaginal cuff suturing time, uterine weight, estimated blood loss, drop of hemoglobin level, return of bowel activity, hospital stay, conversion to multiport access, conversion to laparotomy, and postoperative and intraoperative outcomes were analyzed.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined how anemia affects perinatal outcomes like preterm delivery (PTD) and low birth weight (LBW) in pregnant women over different stages of pregnancy.
  • Researchers analyzed medical records from 39,587 Turkish women who delivered between January 2011 and September 2014, comparing outcomes based on hemoglobin levels categorized into three groups.
  • Results showed that women with severe anemia (Hb <10 g/dl) had significantly higher rates of LBW, PTD, and cesarean sections throughout pregnancy compared to non-anemic women.

Purpose: Uterine papillary serous carcinoma (UPSC) is an atypical variant of endometrial carcinoma with a poor prognosis. It is commonly associated with an increased risk of extrauterine disease. The aim of this study was to investigate clinical and pathological characteristics, therapeutic methods, and prognostic factors in women with UPSC.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate whether uterine weight has a deleterious effect on the operation time, complication rates, length of hospital stay and incidence of intraoperative haemorrhage during total laparoscopic hysterectomy operation.

Methods: A total of 282 patients who underwent total laparoscopic hysterectomy for benign gynaecologic indications were retrospectively analyzed. The median operation time of 70 min was accepted as an index number, and a cut-off point of ≥300 g was calculated for uterine weight by using reciever operator characteristics (ROC) curve analysis.
