A gingival depigmentation is a periodontal plastic procedure that is performed in order to remove melanocytic pigmentation. A variety of different modalities have been proposed for removing hyperpigmentation involving surgical scraping, gingival autograft, cryotherapy, electrosurgery, and lasers. However, the microneedling technique is a nonsurgical procedure that creates microholes to facilitate the penetration of topical medications across the connective tissues.

Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is the main cause of liver damage mediated by the excretion of toxic active drug metabolites. Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin C have potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiapoptotic effects that could offer protection against oxidative stress and liver damage. This study evaluated the hepatoprotective effect of omega-3 and vitamin C alone as well as in a combined form in methotrexate- (MTX-) induced acute liver injury in mice.

Methotrexate (MTX), an antineoplastic and immunosuppressive drug, widely used in the treatment of different types of cancers and the management of chronic inflammatory diseases. However, its use is associated with hepatotoxicity. Vitamin C (VC) and curcumin (CUR) exhibit anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

The hunt for novel antibiotics has become a global public health imperative due to the rise in multidrug-resistant microorganisms, untreatable infection cases, overuse, and inefficacy of modern antibiotics. Polyphenols are getting much attention in research due to their multiple biological effects; their use as antimicrobial agents is attributed to their activity and that microbes have a hard time developing resistance to these natural compounds. Polyphenols are secondary metabolites produced in higher plants.

Decision-making medical systems (DMS) refer to the design of decision techniques in the healthcare sector. They involve a procedure of employing ideas and decisions related to certain processes such as data acquisition, processing, judgment, and conclusion. Pancreatic cancer is a lethal type of cancer, and its prediction is ineffective with current techniques.

This study aimed to investigate the oxidative neurotoxicity induced by silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and assess the neuroprotective effects of quercetin against this toxicity. Forty adult male rats were divided into four equal groups: control, AgNPs (50 mg/kg intraperitoneally), quercetin (50 mg/kg orally), and quercetin + AgNPs. After 30 days, blood and brain tissue samples were collected for further studies.

Article Synopsis
  • - The potato is a crucial global crop, but its growth is significantly impacted by abiotic stress, which led to a study identifying and analyzing invertase genes essential for carbon metabolism and stress responses in potatoes.
  • - Researchers discovered 19 invertase genes in the potato genome, classifying them into two main groups: 11 acidic invertases and 8 neutral/alkaline invertases, highlighting their functional differences through phylogenetic analysis.
  • - Expression studies revealed that invertase genes are predominantly active in flower, leaf, root, and shoot tissues, and their expression increases under stress, providing valuable insights for future genetic research on potatoes.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) treatment landscape had evolved over the last decades with better understanding of the disease genomics and the use of the targeted therapy, despite this treatment evolution, 7 + 3 remains the mainstay treatment for most AML cases. Many attempts had been made to improve the treatment outcome with 7 + 3 like manipulating the doses or the duration, but with no significant change in the outcome. In 2017 FDA approved CPX-351,a liposomal formulation of cytarabine and daunorubicin at a fixed 5:1 molar ratio, for the treatment of adults with newly diagnosed AML with myelodysplasia-related changes and therapy-related AML (t-AML).

Acrylamide (ACR) has various effects on biological systems, including oxidative stress and its associated metabolic disorders. Previous research reports that plants growing at high altitude have a different profile of antioxidants. In the current report, the Taify pomegranate juice (TPJ) of the Taify pomegranate growing at the Taif region (high altitude), Saudi Arabia, was investigated for its protective activity from ACR-induced oxidative stress.

The synthesis and developments of magnetic chitosan nanoparticles for high efficiency removal of the cadmium ions from aquatic medium are one of the most challenging techniques. Highly adsorptive composite (MCH-ATA) was produced by the reaction of chitosan with formaldehyde and amino thiazole derivative. The sorbent was characterized by FTIR, elemental analyses (EA), SEM-EDX, TEM analysis, TGA and titration (volumetric).

Objective: The relevance of growth determination in orthodontics is driving the search for the most precise and least invasive way of tracking the pubertal growth spurt. Our aim was to explore whether minimally invasive salivary estimation of biomarkers Insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) and Insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) could be used to estimate skeletal maturity for clinical convenience, especially in children and adolescent age groups. Materials and Method: The cross-sectional study was conducted on 90 participants (56 girls and 34 males) with ages ranging from 6 to 25 years.

Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) consist of a range of neurodevelopmental conditions accompanied by dysbiosis of gut microbiota. Therefore, a number of microbiota manipulation strategies were developed to restore their balance. However, a comprehensive comparison of the various methods on gut microbiota is still lacking.

In this study, a high-density ZrN/ZrSi composite reinforced with ZrO as an inert phase was synthesized under vacuum starting with a Zr-SiN-ZrO blend using combustion-synthesis methodology accompanied by compaction. The effects of ZrO additions (10-30 wt%) and compression loads (117-327 MPa) on the microstructure, porosity and hardness of the samples were studied. The process was monitored using XRD, SEM, EDS, porosity, density and hardness measurements.

Article Synopsis
  • The study translated and adapted the Oxford Ankle Foot Questionnaire (OxAFQ-c) into Arabic for children aged 5-16 in Saudi Arabia to assess foot and ankle problems.
  • The Arabic version showed strong reliability and construct validity, meaning it consistently measures what it's intended to measure.
  • It is now a useful tool in clinical practice and research for evaluating the quality of life related to ankle-foot conditions in Arabic-speaking children.

(Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae) and (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) are the key pests of pomegranates in Saudi Arabia that are managed mainly using broad-spectrum pesticides. Interactions between the entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) Steinernematids, and Heterorhabditids, and their entomopathogenic bacterial symbionts (EPBs) have long been considered monoxenic 2-partner associations responsible for killing insects and, therefore, are widely used in insect pest biocontrol. However, there are limited reports identifying such organisms in Taif, Saudi Arabia.
