Objective: Understanding and targeting cancer stem cells (CSC) are areas of active research in oncology and further dissemination of scientific results is urgently needed to accelerate the comprehension of their involvement in tumor heterogeneity, resistance to conventional therapies and metastasis. In the context of open science, open access and data sharing, the aim of this study is to assess the current practices of cancer researchers in terms of publications and dissemination of research data.

Method: A bibliometric study was conducted based on a bibliographic search using the Web of Science, and CSC articles with at least one Spanish affiliation were retrieved.

Unlabelled: Reporting guidelines are tools to help improve the transparency, completeness, and clarity of published articles in health research. Specifically, the CONSORT (Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials) and SPIRIT (Standard Protocol Items: Recommendations for Interventional Trials) statements provide evidence-based guidance on what to include in randomised trial articles and protocols to guarantee the efficacy of interventions. These guidelines are subsequently described and discussed in journal articles and used to produce checklists.

Introduction: Skin lesions in close proximity to the lumbosacral region should be assessed in newborns, since they may be the first sign of hidden spinal dysraphism.

Clinical Case: We present the case of a newborn without significant prenatal history. On the first day of life, a 1 cm diameter nodular lesion was found at the lumbar level of the right paravertebral region, with a vascular stain surrounding the base of the lesion.

Systematic reviews (SRs) and meta-analyses (MAs) are of great importance for basing clinical decisions. However, misleading interpretations may result when informed decisions rest on biased review papers with methodological issues. To evaluate which treatment is optimal, an overview was made of SRs and MAs to establish the quality and certainty of meta-evidence published on the efficacy of laser-based refractive surgery techniques for treating myopia in adults.
