Characterization of Pain in Lipedema: Reliability and Validity of Pain Pressure Thresholds and Hand-Held Sphygmomanometer Assessments in People with Lipedema.

Lipedema is a chronic condition characterized by abnormal deposition of subcutaneous adipose tissue, leading to pain. The lack of internationally recognized diagnostic criteria complicates the characterization of pain. Physiological parameters such as pain pressure threshold (PPT) represent promising prognostic markers for diagnosing lipedema, yet they remain understudied.

Rest/Stress Intradermal Lymphoscintigraphy for the Functional Imaging of the Lymphatic System.

Purpose: Lymphoscintigraphy is the criterion-standard method for diagnosing lymphedema, and there is no universally standardized imaging modality. In our center, we use a new approach: rest/stress intradermal lymphoscintigraphy.

Methods: We tested 231 consecutive patients with suspected lymphedema.

Lymphedema is one of the most recurrent problems reported by breast cancer survivors, which negatively affects quality of life (QoL). The Upper Limb Lymphedema Quality of Life Questionnaire (ULL-27) is a tool that assesses the QoL in patients with breast cancer-related lymphedema. At present, an Italian adaptation does not exist.

The role of Doppler ultrasound in the diagnosis of vasculogenic impotence.

Objective: Many authors have demonstrated that cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and their related risk factors can predict erectile dysfunction (ED). The penile Doppler ultrasonography is a method to evaluate the cavernous blood flow in people with suspected vasculogenic impotence. The goal of our study was to evaluate if erectile dysfunction is associated to a vascular disease and which is the role of penile Doppler investigation.

Randomised, double blind, multicentre, placebo controlled study of sulodexide in the treatment of venous leg ulcers.

Sulodexide, a highly purified glycosaminoglycan, was investigated for treatment of venous leg ulcers. Patients (n = 235) undergoing local treatment including wound care and compression bandaging, were randomised to receive either sulodexide or matching placebo for three months. Primary study endpoint was complete ulcer healing after 2 months; secondary endpoints were ulcer healing at 3 months and the time-course changes of ulcer areas.
